Overview
The Frozen Valley (also referenced in earlier Vindictus lore as Hoarfrost Hollow) is a region shaped by cryovolcanic activity. Underground thermal forces have pushed crystalline ice formations through the valley floor, creating a landscape that mixes natural caverns with jagged frozen spires. The visual contrast with the Northern Ruins is sharp, where the ruins feel overgrown and warm-toned, the Frozen Valley is blue, white, and cold.
The region is controlled by the Kobold tribe, a faction of strong, labor-focused creatures known for their mining operations. Resource conflicts between the Kobolds and neighboring groups drive the area's storyline. The Kobolds are more territorial than expansionist. They defend what they have rather than reaching for more.
Enemies
Item | Description |
|---|---|
Miner Kobold | Basic workers turned combatants who swing mining tools. The most common enemy in the region. |
Guard Kobold | More heavily armed than miners. They form the tribe's military backbone. |
Kobold Wrangler | Handlers who fight alongside domesticated beasts. Taking out the wrangler often neutralizes their companions. |
Draenog | Beasts native to the Frozen Valley, used by Kobolds as working animals and sometimes as attack creatures. |
Barghest | Larger predatory creatures that roam the valley independently of the Kobolds. |

Elite variants include the Foreman Kobold (hits harder and rallies nearby Kobolds) and the Master Hunter Kobold (a more aggressive, ranged-capable enemy).
Named bosses
Four named sub-bosses serve as the Kobold leadership: Expedition Captain Imich, Supervisor Eiwoch, Storekeeper Echeloch, and Chief Priest Emaighsoch. Each has a fighting style tied to their role in the tribe. The Chief Priest fights differently from the Expedition Captain, reflecting the Kobold social structure.
Faction boss: Chimpuu Emuloch
Emuloch leads the Kobold tribe and is the region's primary boss encounter. The fight tests a different set of skills than the Gnoll Chieftain in the Northern Ruins. Expect more environmental hazards and area denial compared to Crimsongale's direct aggression. The Kobolds' focus on mining and labor translates into a boss that uses terrain and positioning as weapons.
Universal boss: Almas
Almas is a universal boss encountered across regions, not exclusively in the Frozen Valley. Its cross-region nature suggests it functions as a roaming threat or a challenge that scales with player progression.
