Krao Cave

Aligned names with the rest of the wiki: Sync Stone, Material Conversion; Attributed single-source boss mechanics to player guides
Krao Cave is an Expedition dungeon in AION 2, a party instance for up to five players. It was one of the four Expeditions named in the first update note of the Korean and Taiwanese service on November 19, 2025, alongside Urugugu Canyon, Fire Temple and Draupnir. NCsoft's English global teaser site also uses it as one of four showcase Expeditions.
As of October 7, 2026, NCsoft's global notices have not listed which Expedition dungeons are open in the global build that launched on October 5, 2026; they say that all instanced content, including dungeons, is available cross-server. Everything on this page describes the Korean and Taiwanese service unless it says otherwise.
Detail | Value |
|---|---|
Korean name | 크라오 동굴 |
Type | Expedition, the one-star reward tier together with Draupnir |
Party | Up to five players (four until July 1, 2026); Elyos and Asmodians can group together since March 11, 2026 |
Modes | Exploration; Conquest Normal; Conquest Hard (since December 17, 2025) |
Bosses | Neglected Gadioton, Enhanced Harcon, Ultimate Berk |
Added | Launch of the Korean and Taiwanese service, November 19, 2025 |
Krao Cave runs in Exploration and Conquest. A Hard difficulty was added to Conquest on December 17, 2025, the same day Draupnir, Urugugu Canyon and Vakron Sky Island received theirs. NCsoft described Hard as the version with higher drop rates for Hero and Unique equipment and for Draconic crafting materials. Ranking buffs do not apply on Hard.
Conquest unlocks once the party has cleared Exploration, and Conquest Normal adds Unique-grade gear and a Gear Change Voucher to the guaranteed rewards. Hard pays better odds and adds Sync Stone Fragments (Unique) on top. In NCsoft's December 2025 tables Krao Cave and Draupnir form the first, one-star tier of Expedition rewards.
Mode | Minimum level | Minimum item level |
|---|---|---|
Exploration | 20 | 200 |
Conquest Normal | 45 | 700 in the game data; 1,000 in a June 2026 player-compiled table |
Conquest Hard | 45 | 2,400 |
Exploration costs 20 Odyle Energy to open the reward cube. NCsoft's November 26, 2025 patch, which paid extra Enhancement Stones in proportion to the Odyle Energy spent, gave 1,000 for Krao Cave Exploration and 2,000 for Conquest. The item levels come from the game data and from a player-compiled table; the two agree on Hard, while the Conquest Normal figure differs between them.
The layout is short. The first two bosses sit in side chambers to the left and right of the entrance hall. Back in the centre, killing a seal guardian elite brings down the rock wall behind the Kisk and opens the way to the final boss. The path beyond has a drop that kills players who walk off it; gliding across is the safe way, and NCsoft added a windstream on the approach to the boss on December 3, 2025. Players chasing only the final boss reward can skip the two side bosses, at the cost of their loot in the cube.
Order | Boss | Korean name | Key mechanics |
|---|---|---|---|
First | Neglected Gadioton | 방치된 가디오톤 | Lava pools on the floor, a directed laser and thrown rocks; since January 14, 2026 its damage zones spawn away from the boss |
Second | Enhanced Harcon | 강화된 하르콘 | Crossfire lines that punish players who spread to the walls, plus thrown rocks and lava pools |
Final | 완성체 베르크 | Whirlwind, Wave of Fury (hide behind a glowing rock), a stagger check at half health; on Hard, laser totems and a single true rock |
The English boss names are those in the game client's English data and may change once the global client is fully localised.
According to player guides, Gadioton tests positioning more than anything else: it places lava pools that keep hurting anyone standing in them, fires a directed laser and throws rocks that finish off players who are already low. Strategy write-ups warn against dodging the laser straight into a pool and against dragging trash packs into the fight. A January 14, 2026 patch changed the periodic damage zones so they form away from the boss instead of under it.
According to player guides, Harcon's signature attack sends crossing projectile lines across the room. The intersections are deadliest near the walls, so the party stays loosely grouped close to the boss rather than scattering. Thrown rocks and lava pools from the first fight return here.
Berk, the final boss, swings in wide arcs that miss players standing behind him and often follows a swing with a whirlwind that chases a random target; red dust swirling around his body is the cue to leave. His Wave of Fury (격노의 파동) starts when he drops from the air and glowing rocks rise around the room: anyone not behind a rock when the wave goes off dies. At half health his stagger gauge unlocks and the party has only a short window to empty it before an arena-wide wipe attack. See Ultimate Berk for the fixes NCsoft has made to the fight and the Hard additions.
Conquest Normal clears give a guaranteed Gear Change Voucher. Krao Cave is one of the three Expeditions that drop it, with Urugugu Canyon and Fire Temple. Two vouchers, one weapon from the same dungeon and 1,000,000 Kina convert into a different weapon from that dungeon's set through Material Conversion. Only bound gear from Odyle Energy Cubes and guaranteed rewards can be used as the material.
Source | Unique-grade gear | Hero-grade gear |
|---|---|---|
Final boss, Conquest Normal | 15% (raised from 7.5%) | 0.5% |
Each mid-boss, Conquest Normal | 7.5% (raised from 3.75%) | 0.25% |
Final boss, Conquest Hard | 20% | 1% |
Each mid-boss, Conquest Hard | 10% | 0.5% |
Drop rates are the ones NCsoft published when it raised Conquest Normal rewards and added Hard on December 17, 2025. Each named boss the party kills adds its own loot list to the Odyle Energy Cube opened after the final boss, which is why full clears pay more than runs that skip to the end.
