Fire Temple is an Expedition dungeon in AION 2. NCsoft calls it a hallmark of the AION series that it reimagined for AION 2, and it was the dungeon chosen to demonstrate the game's boss combat: at the AION2NIGHT livestream on August 8, 2025 the developers played a fight against Kromede in Fire Temple with four of the eight classes revealed at the time. This page covers only the AION 2 version.

Fire Temple was among the Expeditions open when the Korean and Taiwanese service launched on November 19, 2025. As of October 7, 2026, NCsoft's global notices have not listed which Expedition dungeons are open in the global build that launched on October 5, 2026; they say that all instanced content, including dungeons, is available cross-server. The rest of this page describes the Korean and Taiwanese service unless it says otherwise.

Modes and Timeline
Entry Requirements
Mode | Minimum level | Minimum item level |
|---|---|---|
Exploration | 35 | 500 |
Conquest Normal | 45 | 2,100 in the game data; 2,200 in a June 2026 player-compiled table |

Ordeal (since September 23, 2026) | 50 | 4,800 |
Levels and item levels are the game data's, except the Ordeal gate, which is NCsoft's; a June 2026 player-compiled table gives the same Hard figure. Exploration costs 30 Odyle Energy. On November 26, 2025 NCsoft began paying extra Enhancement Stones in proportion to the Odyle Energy spent; Fire Temple paid 1,500 for Exploration and 2,000 for Conquest. Conquest bosses were raised in level on November 21, 2025, and the Conquest monsters lowered again on December 3.
Layout and Route
Fire Temple splits the party up. From the entrance the route forks to two mid-bosses, Black Smoke Murute and Red Spark Ignus, each in its own arena; the final room is reached by gliding down to the far side, where a Kisk lets late members rejoin. Two coolant control devices along the way switch off the burning hazards that rain on the mid-boss arenas, so groups often send players to them separately. Monsters here burn, so a cleansing potion for burn damage is part of the standard kit.
Silver Blade Rotan (은빛칼날 로탄) rolls back and forth between the coolant devices. Player guides advise not fighting him, because he adds nothing to the reward cube, and note a ledge near the first boss where players can wait for him and other monsters to lose interest.
Bosses
Boss | Korean name | Role | Key mechanics |
|---|---|---|---|
검은연기 무르트 | Mid-boss | Raises both arms and slams, then drops circles under every player; triple circle combos; expanding stomp waves from half health | |
붉은불꽃 이그누스 | Mid-boss | Marks players with a curse that leaves a permanent lava pool; jumps to the centre and chains leaps between players | |
Silver Blade Rotan | 은빛칼날 로탄 | Roaming named monster | Patrols the route; adds no cube reward |
크로메데의 욕망 | Final boss | Arrows into the sky and the ground, a clone attack on every player and fire-wall maze phases |
The English boss names are the game client's English data.
Boss Mechanics
Black Smoke Murute
Murute's most dangerous move starts when he raises both arms: the slam is followed by circles under every party member, so players move as soon as the arms go up. He also stomps with one foot to start widening rings, and from half health adds stomp waves that grow outward in stages; all of them can be blocked or dodged with precise timing. See Black Smoke Murute.
Red Spark Ignus
When Ignus raises a hand and calls down a curse of flame, the targeted players' health bars turn green, and a few seconds later each drops a lava pool that stays for the rest of the fight. The marked players carry their pools to the edge of the room. Ignus also marks the floor under every player and dashes from one to the next, which is why the party spreads out instead of stacking. See Red Spark Ignus.
Kromede's Desire
Kromede's Desire swings in wide arcs, so the safest place is behind her. Raising her bow to the sky is the warning for a volley: one version fires a single stunning arrow, another a rain of small arrows, and she then leaps to the farthest player for an area attack. Pointing the bow at the ground releases flames around her that are deadly at close range, used twice in a row at low health. In the middle of the room she conjures a clone beside every player that strikes twice, and at set points she rises into the air while walls of fire sweep the arena; players weave through the gaps, and at low health projectiles fly across the walls as well. See Kromede for her other appearances.
Fire Temple as the Ordeal
On September 23, 2026 the Korean service retired the first Expedition Ordeal on Vakron Sky Island and opened a Fire Temple Ordeal in its place. Entry needs character level 50 and item level 4,800. The four Ordeal settings are Time Limit (stages 1 to 3), Resurrection Limit (stages 1 to 3), Boss Enhancement (stages 1 to 8) and Player Weakening (stages 1 to 2), which add up to a difficulty between 4 and 16. Each difficulty pays out once a week, resetting on Wednesday. A September 30 patch corrected the landing point of Black Smoke Murute's jump in the Ordeal version.
Ordeal setting (game client name) | Stages | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Time Limit | 1 to 3 | Shortens the time allowed |
Revival Limit | 1 to 3 | Limits how often the party can be revived |
Boss Enhance | 1 to 8 | Strengthens the bosses |
PC Weaken | 1 to 2 | Weakens the player characters |
Clears pay Tokens of Overcoming, spent at the Expedition Exchange Shop. Player guides for the top Ordeal setting describe a reworked Kromede's Desire who leaves flower-shaped pools that bloom into damaging zones and burst when stepped on after they wither, sends her clone at the farthest player and adds gate phases; NCsoft's October 7, 2026 patch fixed one of her Ordeal skills dealing excessive damage to Spiritmaster spirits. See Expedition Ordeal for the shop and the rules.
Rewards
Conquest Normal is one of the three sources of the Gear Change Voucher, together with Krao Cave and Urugugu Canyon. All Kina from Fire Temple is now paid as bound Kina in Exploration, Conquest Normal and Conquest Hard, and Draconic crafting materials drop in bound form only.
Source | Unique-grade gear | Hero-grade gear |
|---|---|---|
Final boss, Conquest Normal | 10% (raised from 7.5%) | 0.5% |
Each mid-boss, Conquest Normal | 5% (raised from 3.75%) | 0.25% |
Final boss, Conquest Hard | 20% | 1% |
Each mid-boss, Conquest Hard | 10% | 0.5% |
NCsoft published these rates on December 17, 2025; the Hard rates were announced with them and applied when Fire Temple's Hard difficulty arrived a week later. Each boss the party kills adds its loot to the final Odyle Energy Cube. Fire Temple also has its own set of achievements, added with Hard on December 24, 2025.
