Global Launch and Platforms
July 22, 2026 at 03:16 AM
Added the Early Access and server structure announcement: Early Access and Launch server waves, faction-separated servers, cross-server dungeon matching, Abyss matchmaking rules, the Server and Cross-Server Markets, and the committed Server Transfer Service. Fixed a stray punctuation artifact and the ninth-class naming.
AION 2 is being released in two waves. The Korean and Taiwanese launch shipped on November 19, 2025, and the global launch is confirmed for the September 2026. NCsoft has confirmed the global launch as PC-only, distributed simultaneously through Steam and the publisher's NCsoft Purple platform. NCsoft narrowed the window to September 2026 at Summer Game Fest on June 5, 2026, though the exact day within the month has not been announced.

Region | Status |
|---|---|
Korea | Live since November 19, 2025 |
Taiwan | Live since November 19, 2025 |
Global (NA, SA, EU, Japan) | Confirmed for September 2026. No exact day within the month is locked. |
The global release is a PC-only game. The Korean and Taiwanese build is a PC and mobile release with cross-play through the Purple launcher, but mobile and cross-play are not part of the global launch. When reading KR or TW coverage, treat any mobile or cross-platform feature as specific to those regions, not the global PC version.
Platform | Notes |
|---|---|
Steam | Steam app ID 3393110; the Steam wishlist is live |
NCsoft Purple | Publisher's own client; cross-distributes the same client and account as Steam |
The global launch will host servers in North America, South America, Europe, and Japan. Cross-region play is not the default; players will connect to the regional cluster appropriate to their selected server. Korea and Taiwan retain their own server clusters.
AION 2 will ship with text and UI localization in ten languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. Voice localization, where supported, is a subset of those languages and varies by character and cinematic.
AION 2 is built on Unreal Engine 5. NCsoft has published recommended specs that target a mainstream gaming PC, and the client supports modern upscaling and frame-generation features on supported hardware, with the exact coverage set by the live client and driver releases. Settings scale up significantly for players running higher-tier GPUs. Check the Steam store page for the current published specification before launch.
AION 2 is free-to-play. The detailed monetization model, including memberships, the premium currency Quna, and cosmetic battle passes, is covered on the Monetization and Memberships page. NCsoft published the global business model on July 8, 2026, covering the Membership, the Kina and Quna currencies, Daeva Passes, and Founder's Packs.
NCsoft published how launch-day servers will work on July 17, 2026. The release opens in two waves, and which wave you land in depends on whether you bought a Founder's Pack.
Server Wave | Who Gets In | When |
|---|---|---|
Early Access Servers | Initially only players who bought any tier of Founder's Pack. Players without a pack can still join these servers at launch if they remain open and have space. | Five days before global launch |
Launch Servers | Everyone. A second wave of servers opens alongside the free-to-play release, and players choose their preferred server. | Global launch day |
Servers are split by faction: Elyos and Asmodian players are on separate servers, and the two sides meet in the Abyss for PvP rather than sharing an open world. That is a structural decision about how the faction war is staged, not a queue setting, so your faction choice determines which servers you can roll on.
Dungeon party matching is not limited to a single server. During Early Access, players match for parties across every Early Access server in their geographical region. At launch the matching pool widens to cover both Early Access and Launch servers in the same region, so a player who started early and a player who started on launch day can run content together.
Abyss matchmaking follows a stricter rule. During Early Access it happens between Early Access servers only. After launch, servers are matched on how far along and how strong each one is, so a server that has been running for five extra days is not thrown against a day-one server.
Market | Reach | Availability |
|---|---|---|
Server Market | Your own server's local trading hub; buy and sell with players on your server using Kina | Live from the very start of Early Access and onward after launch |
Cross-Server Market | All servers within your region, also trading in Kina, with a much larger pool of buyers and sellers | Not available at the start of Early Access or at launch. Opens after release, once participating servers reach a similar stage in the game. |
Early Access servers keep their Markets separate during the head-start window, which is the mechanism that stops five days of extra farming from setting launch-day prices. Trading on either Market requires an active Membership; see Monetization and Memberships.
NCsoft has committed to an AION 2 Server Transfer Service but has not dated it. The stated plan is to evaluate server occupancy after Early Access and launch, with the goals of easing congestion and smoothing out related systems, then publish details in a dedicated announcement. Until then, players who start on different servers can still party for dungeons and add each other as friends.
The Korean and Taiwanese build ran its own first server-transfer window from July 22 to July 28, 2026, priced at 1,000 Quna per account plus 200 Quna per character moved, limited to one transfer per account and to servers of the same faction. That is a live-build service on the Korean and Taiwanese servers and does not describe the global transfer terms, which are still unpublished.
Add the game to your Steam wishlist (app ID 3393110) to receive launch notifications.
Sign up for the global newsletter on the official site to be notified about beta tests, founder packs, and pre-launch character creation events. NCsoft has confirmed a pre-launch reward for newsletter subscribers: a guaranteed Pagati companion pet at the global launch, plus their choice of one additional companion such as a Konuti Worker, Papis, Black Smoke Murt, or Silver Blade Rotan.
Watch the official channels for the next dev showcase, which is expected to deepen the global-launch information.
Follow regional server announcements once they are scheduled; cross-region play is not the default and your server choice is sticky.
NCsoft's marketing for the global launch ramps up through 2026, with new trailers, showcase events, and a recurring livestream series that anchors content reveals. Specific event dates and showcase details are announced on the official channels closer to each appearance; treat any single date circulating ahead of an official announcement as provisional until NCsoft confirms it.
NCsoft held its mid-June Seoul showcase, the AION 2 Summer Festa, on June 14, 2026, for a closed-invite audience of around 150 attendees plus an online broadcast. The recap appears under the dedicated section below; it deepened the Korean and Taiwanese build roadmap but did not announce a specific global launch day.
AION 2 appeared at Summer Game Fest on June 5, 2026, where NCsoft premiered a new trailer and set the global launch for September 2026. Immediately afterward, the studio ran closed-door hands-on demos for press and content creators at SGF Play Days from June 6 to 8, with the demo build showcasing flight and aerial combat, the class system, character customization, and open-world PvP. The September window was the first time NCsoft committed to a specific month for the global PC release, narrowing the earlier second-half-of-2026 framing.
NCsoft held the previously-teased Seoul showcase, the AION 2 Summer Festa, on June 14, 2026, for a closed-invite audience alongside an online broadcast. The event focused on the Korean and Taiwanese build's roadmap. Its headline reveals were a ninth class, the Fistmaster, and a major update called Chapter 1: Land of Sand and Frost, scheduled for July 1, 2026 on that build. The Korean live service now groups major updates into larger Chapter units rather than numbered seasons.
The showcase did not announce a specific calendar day for the September 2026 global launch, which remains a month-only window. Coverage of the event has not stated which of the July 1 Chapter 1 features ship in the global build at launch versus arriving on the global timeline afterward, so treat the Chapter 1 content as Korean and Taiwanese build content until the global lineup is confirmed.
