Chaotic Upper Reshanta is a PvP field of the Abyss added with the Chapter 1. Lands of Sand and Snow update on July 1, 2026 on the Korean and Taiwanese service. It is built for characters who are not yet fully geared: entry is limited by item level and combat power, and there are no bosses or Artifacts to fight over. NCsoft's English description of the update says that item level and combat power are capped in the zone and that no bosses or Artifacts appear.
Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
Entry | Only characters at item level 4,300 or below, or at combat power 400K or below, can enter. A Korean preview before the update described the limit as combat power 400K or below. |
Exceeding the limit | A character that goes over the limit while inside is expelled at once and loses one hour of the zone's base use time as a penalty. Since October 7, 2026 a character that exceeds the limit after entering, for example by changing equipment, also dies instantly. |
Population | Up to 300 players per side, 600 in total |
Objectives | No Artifacts, unlike the lower and middle layers |
PvP stats | Since July 8, 2026 PvP-related stats have maximum values inside the zone |
Rank buff | The Abyss rank buff does not apply inside (since July 8, 2026) |
Layer | Opened | Character |
|---|---|---|
Lower layer | Launch, November 19, 2025 | Three Artifacts, flight circles near its strongholds, and the Guardian Lord Nahma among its bosses |
Briefly at launch, then again from January 21, 2026; rebuilt as a no-flight chaos layer on April 8, 2026 | Three Artifacts, wind paths and updrafts instead of flight | |
Chaotic Upper Reshanta | July 1, 2026 | Gear-capped, 300 per side, no Artifacts or bosses |
The Korean service calls the zone the surface layer of the Abyss. The English name used on this wiki is the one NCsoft used in its English announcement of the update.
The October 7, 2026 update also applied an optimisation to reduce stutter during large battles here and in the lower and middle layers.
As of October 7, 2026, NCsoft's posts for the global launch name the Abyss and the Spacetime Rifts as the places where the factions meet, but do not say which Abyss layers are open on the global servers, and no global first-party source mentions the Chapter 1 regions that arrived together with this zone on the Korean service. The game client's English map label for the zone matches the name used here.
