Chanter
October 2, 2026 at 03:36 AM
Added global-client skill table, Dark Crush and mantra mechanics, party tools and July to September balance history
Chanter is the support class, and in AION 2 that means buffs and auras first, healing second, damage third, in a kit that does all three well enough to justify a slot rather than filling one grudgingly.
Field | Detail |
|---|---|
Role | Support, with secondary healing |
Weapon | Staff |
Signature mechanic | Party auras and buffs, including a cooldown-reduction effect shared with the party |
Party fit | The flexible slot in five-player Expedition and a fixture in ten-player Sanctuary groups |
NCsoft's own class overview calls the Chanter a bold and versatile jack of all trades that circulates power through its staff to sustain allies in offense and defense. The class is part of the eight-class roster offered on the global service, which opened to Founder's Pack holders in paid Advance Access on September 30, 2026 ahead of the official launch on October 5, 2026.
The class's distinguishing trick is that its strongest effects land on other people. Power of the Storm raises Combat Speed and shortens cooldowns for the Chanter and party members within 40 meters, with a smaller cooldown cut for the party. Undefeated Mantra is a party toggle that raises damage and damage tolerance and whose damage bonus does not stack with the Cleric's Light of Protection, Sprint Mantra adds movement speed and a chance to heal on hit, Impeding Authority shields the party, and Barrier Spell stops party members' HP from falling below 10 percent for a few seconds. Recuperation and Healing Touch are the direct heals.
On offense the Chanter fights both in melee and at 20 meters. Onslaught restores MP and Incandescent Blow spends it, and Dark Crush is a follow-up that opens after Impactful Crush, Spinning Strike, Ensnaring Mark and Marchutan's Wrath. Wave Blow knocks down a stunned target, and Earth's Promise lowers the damage tolerance of whatever the Chanter hits.
The September 2, 2026 patch converted one of its spinning strikes into a ranged attack, with the stated goal of giving the class more flexibility in dungeon fights, and redistributed damage across its skills.
Chanter was reworked alongside Cleric on August 12, 2026. Its healing radius widened from 25 to 40 metres, base healing amounts were cut by roughly 20 to 50 percent depending on skill level, and its flat healing-amplification passive was replaced with amplification that scales off attack power at 18, 21 and 24 percent across the passive's three marked levels. As with Cleric, healing output now follows the player's own gear.
Chanter is one of the four classes whose team-wide synergy NCsoft deliberately strengthened in April 2026, when the four pure damage classes lost theirs. The July 29, 2026 pass then adjusted it again with PvE and PvP damage changes and specialization swaps.
A note on community sentiment: reports that NCsoft had called the class useless traced back to translation errors in an interview, not to a developer statement.
The August 26, 2026 pass on the Korean and Taiwanese service toned that synergy down: Earth's Promise's damage tolerance reduction went from 15, 20 and 25 percent to 9, 13 and 17 percent at skill levels 10, 20 and 30.
In the client data every class has 12 active skills, 13 Stigma skills and 10 passives, plus Dodge and chain follow-ups that do not take a slot of their own. Stigma skills are equipped through the Stigma System and keep every specialty they have unlocked. Each skill also unlocks specialties (numbered Spec 1 to Spec 5 in patch notes) as it levels up.

Every class runs the same underlying loop: tab-targeting with active dodge and parry, skill chains that prompt a follow-up key, a Groggy stagger gauge on bosses, and Perfect Block or Perfect Dodge windows on a well-timed input. Loadouts hold twelve active skills, a set of Stigma slots and ten passives, allocated with Mastery Points and Stigma Shards.
Skill names on this page are the English names used in the global client. The skill table is drawn from the global client data as of September 2026 and describes what each skill does rather than its per-level numbers, which change with skill level and with balance patches. The balance history covers the Korean and Taiwanese service, which receives changes on its own schedule; the global build can differ from it at any given time.
Classes for the full roster and the balance history. Combat and Skill Chains for the shared input loop. Gear and Progression for equipment. Daeva System and Daevanion Board for talents. Stigma System for the enhanceable skill layer.
