Brawler

Clarified that the Brawler is not part of the announced global launch class roster
The Brawler is the ninth playable class in AION 2, added to the Korean and Taiwanese live build with the Chapter 1: Lands of Sand and Snow update. It is a front-line damage class that fights unarmed except for its own dedicated weapon type, the Gauntlets, and it is built around closing distance and chaining combo charges rather than holding a rotation at range.
NCsoft first showed the class at the Summer Festa showcase on June 14, 2026 without an English name, and for several weeks English-language coverage guessed at renderings of the Korean name 권성 (Kwon-seong). Vandal, Fistmaster and Soul Fighter all circulated, and none of them was ever official. NCsoft published the English name on July 6, 2026 in its own announcement for the Chapter 1 update: the class is the Brawler. That is the name used throughout this wiki. If you are reading older community material, the Korean name and the guessed English names all refer to this same class.
The Brawler uses Gauntlets, a weapon type introduced with the class and not shared with the rest of the roster. Instead of the mana-style resource other classes spend, it runs on a Rage gauge. Basic attacks and active skills both generate Rage, and once the gauge reaches its threshold the class enters a Rampage state that swaps it into a more aggressive skill set. The loop is therefore build-then-spend rather than manage-and-conserve, which is what separates it from the other melee damage classes described on Classes.
Property | Detail |
|---|---|
Role | Melee damage, front line |
Weapon | Gauntlets, exclusive to this class |
Resource | Rage, generated by basic attacks and active skills |
Signature state | Rampage, triggered once the Rage gauge reaches its threshold |
Added | Chapter 1 update, Korean and Taiwanese build |
Factions | Available to both Elyos and Asmodian, like every other class |
When the class launched, NCsoft granted every account one free character slot so existing players could roll a Brawler without deleting an established character.
The July 29, 2026 patch on the Korean and Taiwanese build was the Brawler's first substantial tuning pass, and it reshaped how the Rampage state pays off:
Its finisher was changed to consume the whole remaining Rampage gauge rather than a fixed amount, and its damage now scales with how much of the gauge is spent. Each additional 10% of the maximum gauge consumed adds 40% PvE damage and 20% PvP damage, so the skill rewards holding the state until the gauge can be dumped in one hit.
The specialization that reset the finisher's cooldown on a kill was narrowed so that it only triggers when that specific skill lands the kill, rather than on any kill.
A bug that halved the base duration of the class's unstoppable effect was corrected.
Its ranged energy attack had its projectile speed raised.
The passive that governs Rage gain now also restores Rage when the Brawler kills an enemy, which shortens the gap between Rampage windows.
The Rampage state received a visual effect on the gauge so the active window is readable at a glance.
The August 12, 2026 patch followed with a second tuning pass:
The Rage burst skill's base cooldown dropped from 120 to 90 seconds, its duration is now fixed at 10 seconds with Rage recovery growing as the skill levels up, and its fifth specialization changed from extra Rage recovery to a 30-second cooldown reduction.
The domain summon's base duration was set to 20 seconds, and its duration specialization grew from +2 to +10 seconds.
The class's healing-cut debuff was raised to 50/60/70% at the skill's three marked levels.
The block-heal passive was reworked: blocking now has a 50% chance to restore health equal to 15/25/35% of the damage taken, at the passive's three marked levels.
Bug fixes: the finisher's on-kill cooldown reset had been applying from level 1, a ground strike's range misbehaved during Rampage, and the ranged burst was missing its hit reaction on area targets.
NCsoft has not published English names for the Brawler's individual skills, so the abilities above are described by what they do rather than by a translated name. Treat the per-skill numbers on the Korean and Taiwanese build as live-build tuning that can change with any weekly patch, and see Combat and Skill Chains for the shared combat systems every class uses.
The Brawler is live on the Korean and Taiwanese build. Official global marketing presents eight classes for the global launch, so the Brawler is not part of the announced global launch roster. NCsoft has not said when it reaches the global build, and the same uncertainty applies to the rest of the Chapter 1 content. See Global Launch and Platforms for what has been confirmed about the global release.
