The Brawler is the ninth playable class in AION 2, added to the Korean and Taiwanese live build with the Chapter 1. Lands of Sand and Snow update. It is a front-line damage class that fights unarmed except for its own dedicated weapon type, the Gauntlets, and it is built around closing distance and chaining combo charges rather than holding a rotation at range.

Naming

NCsoft first showed the class at the Summer Festa showcase on June 14, 2026 without an English name, and for several weeks English-language coverage guessed at renderings of the Korean name 권성 (Kwon-seong). Vandal, Fistmaster and Soul Fighter all circulated, and none of them was ever official. NCsoft published the English name on July 6, 2026 in its own announcement for the Chapter 1 update: the class is the Brawler. That is the name used throughout this wiki. If you are reading older community material, the Korean name and the guessed English names all refer to this same class.
Weapon and Resource
The Brawler uses Gauntlets, a weapon type introduced with the class and not shared with the rest of the roster. Instead of the mana-style resource other classes spend, it runs on a Rage gauge. Basic attacks and active skills both generate Rage, and once the gauge reaches its threshold the class enters a Rampage state that swaps it into a more aggressive skill set. The loop is therefore build-then-spend rather than manage-and-conserve, which is what separates it from the other melee damage classes described on Classes.
NCsoft's official Korean guidebook describes the Brawler as a front-line assault class that builds Rage (분노) and presses enemies hard with explosive power: it closes distance quickly and overwhelms enemies with strong combos, and in the Rampage (폭주) state its combat ability rises sharply. Tempo control and resource management are its core. The guidebook's skill page lists Rampage as a skill that enters the state; Rage then drains at intervals and Rampage ends when Rage reaches zero. During Rampage, Combat Speed and PvE and PvP damage boost rise and every skill switches to its Rampage version, for example charge skills fire instantly and the basic chain stops restoring Rage.

When the class launched, NCsoft granted every account one free character slot so existing players could roll a Brawler without deleting an established character.
Balance History
The July 29, 2026 patch on the Korean and Taiwanese build was the Brawler's first substantial tuning pass, and it reshaped how the Rampage state pays off:
Its finisher was changed to consume the whole remaining Rampage gauge rather than a fixed amount, and its damage now scales with how much of the gauge is spent. Each additional 10% of the maximum gauge consumed adds 40% PvE damage and 20% PvP damage, so the skill rewards holding the state until the gauge can be dumped in one hit.
The specialization that reset the finisher's cooldown on a kill was narrowed so that it only triggers when that specific skill lands the kill, rather than on any kill.
A bug that halved the base duration of the class's unstoppable effect was corrected.
Its ranged energy attack had its projectile speed raised.
The passive that governs Rage gain now also restores Rage when the Brawler kills an enemy, which shortens the gap between Rampage windows.
The Rampage state received a visual effect on the gauge so the active window is readable at a glance.
The August 12, 2026 patch followed with a second tuning pass:
The Rage burst skill's base cooldown dropped from 120 to 90 seconds, its duration is now fixed at 10 seconds with Rage recovery growing as the skill levels up, and its fifth specialization changed from extra Rage recovery to a 30-second cooldown reduction.
The domain summon's base duration was set to 20 seconds, and its duration specialization grew from +2 to +10 seconds.
The class's healing-cut debuff was raised to 50/60/70% at the skill's three marked levels.
The block-heal passive was reworked: blocking now has a 50% chance to restore health equal to 15/25/35% of the damage taken, at the passive's three marked levels.
Bug fixes: the finisher's on-kill cooldown reset had been applying from level 1, a ground strike's range misbehaved during Rampage, and the ranged burst was missing its hit reaction on area targets.
Most Brawler skills still have no English name. In the global client data as of September 2026, only a handful of Brawler skills carry English names and tooltips are missing for the rest, so the abilities on this page are described by what they do. The named ones are listed below. Treat the per-skill numbers on the Korean and Taiwanese build as live-build tuning that can change with any weekly patch, and see Combat and Skill Chains for the shared combat systems every class uses.
Brawler Skills lists all 35 Brawler skills from the official Korean guidebook with their Korean names, provisional English renderings where NCsoft has not published names, the cooldowns that can be matched to the global client data, and the full balance history since July 1, 2026.

Defiance | Active | Shared escape skill used by every class |
Rage | Stigma | Self buff that restores Rage; base cooldown 90 seconds since August 12, 2026 on the Korean and Taiwanese service |

Other Balance Passes
Date | Change (Korean and Taiwanese service) |
|---|---|
July 8, 2026 | Fixed Focused Block's window shrinking as Combat Speed rose; the class's healing-reduction Stigma gained 30% life absorption as a base effect; its ranged energy attack's projectiles fly 25% faster; its area assault Stigma's base cooldown doubled from one minute to two; Rampage could no longer be cancelled from the buff window. |
July 15, 2026 | Focused Block starts faster and now cancels the skill in progress. |
July 22, 2026 | Rampage can no longer be dispelled; a stun strike now restores 50 Rage and stuns for 3 seconds instead of 2; the charged rising strike gained a chance to bind the target in the air at full charge or during Rampage. |
August 19, 2026 | The charged rising strike's stagger damage rose from 10 to 15. |
August 26, 2026 | Three core chain strikes gained 20% PvE damage; the Rampage finisher's PvE bonus for each 10% of the gauge consumed rose from 40% to 50%; the Rage buff and the clone buff last 15 seconds instead of 10. A maintenance on August 27 then raised the cooldown cut that a basic-chain specialty gives the charged rising strike from 1 to 2 seconds, to make that skill worth using more often. |
September 16, 2026 | Seven Brawler skills, Flash Step among them, can no longer be used while rooted. |
September 23, 2026 | Tooltip corrections, including Focused Block's on-block effect. |
October 7, 2026 | All classes: fixed attacks made while in the air sometimes failing to land on a target even when in range. No class-specific changes for this class in the October 7 note. |
Global Availability
The Brawler is live on the Korean and Taiwanese build. NCsoft's global material presents eight classes, and the eight it names are Gladiator, Templar, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric and Chanter. The Brawler is not among them. NCsoft has never stated in so many words that the class is excluded from the global launch build, so read this as what the published material shows rather than as a confirmed exclusion. The global service opened to Founder's Pack holders in paid Advance Access on September 30, 2026, and the class weapon skin chests in its launch shop cover only those eight classes' weapons. As of October 7, 2026, two days after the official global launch on October 5, NCsoft has not announced when the Brawler will reach the global service: none of the 46 official posts on the global Steam event feed mentions the class, the global new skin items notice of September 30 lists weapon skins for eight weapon types without the Gauntlets, and the global client data still has no English text for most Brawler skills, and the same uncertainty applies to the rest of the Chapter 1 content. See Global Launch and Platforms for what has been confirmed about the global release.
