007 First Light launched worldwide on May 27, 2026. The launch followed a synchronized global moment rather than per-region staggered unlocks, with 24-hour early access on May 26 for Deluxe and higher edition pre-orders. Pre-loads opened 48 hours ahead of unlock on May 24, with platform-specific caveats noted below.

Only PlayStation 5 offered a true pre-load window. PC and Xbox owners began their full downloads when the unlock moment hit. The platform difference is a Sony-side policy rather than an IO Interactive decision.
Install Size and Day-One Patch
The Day One Patch is mandatory. Physical PlayStation 5 discs ship with only the Iceland opening playable offline. The full campaign, all later chapters, and all online features unlock only after the day-one content update completes. Approximate install size on PS5 is 51 GB.

Hitman Cross-Promotion
Players who link an IO Interactive Account to their HITMAN World of Assassination save unlock the Midnight Ray outfit at launch. Completing the Le Chiffre Elusive Target inside HITMAN World of Assassination on the same linked account unlocks the Casino Suit. Both outfits become available in 007 First Light the first time the linked account boots the game.
Denuvo and Online Validation
The PC version uses Denuvo DRM, added to the Steam page on May 21, 2026 (six days before launch). Reports describe a periodic online validation check. Offline play is supported between checks. Players should be online for the initial unlock to allow the validation handshake.
Launch Trailer
IO Interactive published the official launch trailer on May 21, 2026. The video runs roughly two minutes and is hosted on the IO Interactive YouTube channel and the PlayStation channel.
Notable Launch-Day Notes
A pre-release leak of the Iceland opening surfaced from an early physical PlayStation 5 copy on May 23 to 24. IO Interactive responded by uploading the official First 13 Minutes video on May 23. Players without the day-one patch could play only the Iceland prologue from disc.
Review codes were distributed late by Bond-game standards (around May 22, five days before launch). The review embargo lifted on May 26.
