Corrected Laser Strap unlock to Chapter 9 (Out of the Ashes); resolved contradiction with the collectible-run note
The Laser Strap is a concealed wrist-mounted directed-energy beam in 007 First Light. It cuts wires, opens metal locks, severs ziplines, and dazes opponents briefly. Sustained use creates a melee finisher window. Activation is mapped to Square on PlayStation.
Use | Effect |
|---|---|
Cut wires | Slices ziplines, supports, rigged cables |
Open locks | Cuts metal-shell padlocks; opens some doors |
Disarm enemies | Burning the laser across an armed enemy's hand causes them to drop their weapon (trophy: Disarming Personality) |
Daze opponents | Sustained beam on a target's eyes temporarily blinds them for a finisher window |
Stealth setup | Cuts hostile environmental supports for non-lethal takedowns |
Unlocked in Chapter 9 (Out of the Ashes), equipped at the Q-Lab gadget table before the later collectible-heavy chapters.
The Laser Strap is not unlimited. Each use draws on an electric charge, and Bond replenishes charges by picking up blue batteries found in the environment. Running out of charge means the strap cannot fire until another battery is collected, so it is worth grabbing every battery on a route where the laser is needed for locks or disarms.
The Laser Strap is one of the two recommended gadgets for full Collectibles cleanup, paired with the Dart Phone. Several collectibles sit behind padlocks, locked cabinets, or even a fish tank that only the laser can break. Keeping the Laser Strap equipped is essential during the Mauritania black-market chapters and the Knightfall tower, where multiple cards and documents are locked away. Using chapter select re-equips a default loadout, so a dedicated collectible run should start from the chapter where the Laser Strap is first granted.
