Overview
Shelves are wall-mounted display pieces, part of the Base Building decoration set. They come in small, large, and elegant variants, plus two luxurious designs with carved crown and curl ornamentation. Shelves add to the Shelf Comfort System category and hold smaller display items, but they are decoration only: real item storage uses Storage Containers or Storage Labels.

Shelves mount to any wall piece. Their flat surface accepts smaller decoration items (Books, Dishes, Ship Models, Trophies).
Small Shelf and Large Shelf are the cheapest options and fit any wall. Elegant Shelf and Large Elegant Shelf add trim and pattern work. Luxurious variants include a Luxurious Shelf with a Crown (top ornament) and a Luxurious Shelf with Curls (decorative end pieces).
Pair two stacked shelves above a Decorative Table to build a study wall. Fill them with a Ship Model, Decorative Globe, and a few Book Sets.
Tips
Stack two shelves on the same wall for a richer display.
Use Luxurious variants above a Fireplace for a focal wall.
Small Shelf works well next to a bed for a bedside display.
Comfort +1 bonuses in a given decoration sub-category do not stack. Placing a second piece of the same sub-category does not add more comfort, it only changes the aesthetic.
Display and Storage
A shelf's flat surface accepts smaller decoration objects so a wall can be styled into a study or display nook. Good companions include Ship Models, Trophies, Paintings on the wall above, and a Decorative Globe on the surface. Pairing a shelf over a Decorative Tables piece builds a tidy study corner.
Despite the in-game description that mentions storing food and rum, shelves do not provide inventory slots. They are scored under the Shelf comfort category, which grants its bonus once regardless of how many shelves are placed, so mixing in other decoration types raises total Comfort System value more efficiently than stacking identical shelves.
