Marksman's Rig is a named armor set in Windrose that supports Marksman talent-branch builds centered on ranged weapons. The 2-piece and 4-piece bonuses reward a kiting, repositioning playstyle.
Pieces Equipped | Bonus |
|---|---|
2 pieces | -30% sprint/jump/dash stamina cost |
4 pieces | +15% ranged damage |
The 30% sprint stamina reduction is the largest movement-focused bonus in the game, enabling a kiting playstyle where the player repositions constantly between shots. This is particularly valuable with muskets, which have long reload times and reward a hit-and-retreat rhythm. The 4-piece +15% ranged damage stacks with Marksman talents and food buffs, pushing per-shot damage high enough to one-shot most trash mobs and chunk significant health off boss bars.
Reliable Musket (Rare or Epic) - highest per-shot damage
Pistol - off-hand quick-draw for finishing off enemies at close range
Reliable Blunderbuss - close-range crowd control with knockdown chance
Worn-Out Pistol or Pistol - early-game workhorses
Marksman talents Planning Ahead (passive reload reduction), Quick Hand (active reload speed), Deep Impact (+3-9% pierce damage), and Bulletstorm (+5-9% damage per consecutive hit, 4-stack cap) stack directly with Marksman's Rig. Toughguy Tier-0 Marathon Runner (+20-50 stamina) compounds with the 2-piece bonus for sustained sprint chains between shots.
Because every ranged weapon consumes Gunpowder, a Marksman's Rig wearer needs to maintain a larger gunpowder reserve than melee-focused builds. Pirate Camp farming is the community-recommended approach: clear camps daily, loot 2-3 gunpowder per supply crate, and stockpile before boss fights.

Marksman's Rig is sold by the People of Tortuga Provisioner. Doublet and Pants unlock at Rank 2 for 200 Piastres each. The set is designed around ranged play: the 2-piece movement-stamina reduction lets you kite enemies indefinitely, while the 4-piece ranged damage bonus amplifies Muskets, Pistols, and Blunderbuss output.
The combination of Marksman's Rig plus the Precision-scaling Precision stat investment plus a Rare firearm like the Reliable Musket or Buccaneer's Friend creates the definitive kiting build. Most High Priestess and Israel Hands boss clears by ranged players lean on this build.
Defense scales by craft tier. All five pieces share the same 100 DEF at Item Level 1, 160 at Item Level 6, and 200 at Item Level 11. Each ilvl corresponds to a separate recipe and a separate workshop attachment. Intermediate levels (2, 3, 4, 5 on the base recipe; 7, 8, 9, 10 on the mid-tier recipe; 12 and above on the top recipe) are reached by upgrading at the Upgrading Station rather than crafting.
All Item Level 1 recipes use the base Armor and Clothing Workshop without any attachment.
