Revision - temple of trials - The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales Wiki

The Temple of Trials is an optional combat challenge in the Age of Safekeeping. Four trials offer longer runs as the story advances, with first-clear rewards that expand accessory capacity, upgrade the shield and complete a boss-rush objective.

Finding and opening the temple

Travel to Southern Westerea in the Age of Safekeeping. The temple stands south of the Rainbow Lotus, near the Southern Westerea guidepost. Look for the golden shrine on a round, raised plateau and climb its ladder.

The temple first becomes accessible during the main-story objective to reach the Rainbow Lotus. Interact at the entrance and follow the offering prompt. Entering for the first time opens the Novice trial. Later unlocks produce a notification and an exclamation mark over the temple on the map.

Trials, unlocks and first-clear rewards

Trial	Floors	When it opens	First-clear reward
Novice's Trial	5	Enter the Temple of Trials for the first time.	Warrior's Mark
Sophomore's Trial	8	Complete the Age of Budding segment, then discuss the Frostlock Spell with Euygene in the Age of Safekeeping.	Seasoned Warrior's Mark
Adept's Trial	10	Defeat the Beast of Enmity on the true-ending route.	Aelfric's Shield
Hero's Trial	12	Clear Novice, Sophomore and Adept, then reach the point before the final boss on the true-ending route.	Medal of the Cardinal Hero

The Adept and Hero trials require the true-ending path. Use Endings and Missables for the preparation order and save choices before advancing to the final battles.

Boss floors

Novice starts with four rooms of ordinary enemies before its final boss. Sophomore and Adept mix enemy rooms with the boss floors below. Hero changes to a continuous boss rush, with a boss on each of its twelve floors.

Trial	Floor	Encounter
Novice	1-4	Enemy rooms
Novice	5	Ulfr Frostclaw
Sophomore	4	The Rathomobile
Sophomore	7	Lord of the Maw
Sophomore	8	Rouser of Destruction
Adept	3	Bridd Anemomancer
Adept	5	Frauki Capo
Adept	7	Elpand Marshal
Adept	9	Salathmadra
Adept	10	Grandslygge

The encounter roster and combat advice are collected in Enemies and Bosses. Prepare for the next boss as well as the current room when choosing the equipped weapon pair.

What the rewards do

Reward	Effect
Warrior's Mark	Key item that adds one accessory slot.
Seasoned Warrior's Mark	Key item that adds another accessory slot.
Aelfric's Shield	Three-star shield with 16 stamina. Raises Faie's magic recovery speed by 50% and restores 25% of her magic on a precision guard.
Medal of the Cardinal Hero	Reward for completing the twelve-floor Hero trial.

The two Marks increase the starting accessory capacity from one slot to three. Equipment lists accessory effects and the other shields. Clearing Hero also unlocks the gold Cardinal Hero trophy.

Fees, repeat clears and failure

Every trial has an entry fee. Novice costs 50 tul, Sophomore costs 100 tul and Adept costs 150 tul. Novice also offers 30-60 magicite fragments. Repeating a cleared trial still costs tul and rewards magicite; the named first-clear prizes are separate from these repeat rewards. Sophomore's Trial also offers 125-250 magicite fragments.

Defeat inside a trial returns Elliot to the temple entrance without a death penalty. Another attempt still requires its entry fee, so bring enough tul for retries.

For other ways to fund entries or gather fragments, see Farming Tul and Magicite Fragments.

Hero's Trial boss rush

Clear the first three trials before entering Hero. Its twelve boss fights run continuously, without an exit between floors.

Floor	Boss	Practical opening
1	Turbo Rathomobile	Use bombs to break its barriers.
2	Ulfr Deathclaw	After the double slash, land one or two hits and withdraw. Burn adds damage.
3	Frauki Don	Attack while it is dizzy after a wall collision. Burn also helps.
4	Bridd Brontomancer	Wait for the exhaustion window after its attacks; use Burn for extra damage.
5	Elpand Generalissimo	Use precision guards to create counterattack openings against its frontal guard. Steely Charm protects against stun.
6	Primordial Enmity Kaifried	Guard its long-reaching sword attacks and use the red attack cue to time precision counters.
7	Lord of the Maw	Retreat when the suction starts and drop a bomb.
8	Rouser of Destruction	Break the floor ice spikes, then throw the remaining ice blocks at its eye.
9	Salathmadra	Take cover behind rocks during the charged attack and use the Bow to clear minions.
10	Grandslygge	Hit the ball the slugs spit out. Use Vacuum when projectiles close in.
11	Maxim Guardis	Destroy the blue generators to lower its barrier. Flutterer's Cape helps with the broken platforms.
12	The Beast of Enmity	It reuses the Sorcerer's patterns with greater speed and strength; attack during the familiar openings.
