Streets of Rogue 2 can be played alone or cooperatively with friends. The developer has consistently described the game as playable solo or with others, and the main goal of toppling the President can be pursued either way. Co-op support has been a stated feature of the project, and the demo was updated over development to work toward features including local co-op and online multiplayer.
Co-op Options
Based on the game's listed store features, the following multiplayer and co-op options are supported.
Feature | Description |
|---|---|
Single-player | The full experience can be played solo. |
Online Co-op | Play cooperatively with friends over the internet. |
LAN Co-op | Play cooperatively over a local network. |
Shared / Split-Screen Co-op | Play cooperatively on one screen. |
Remote Play Together | Share a co-op session with players who do not own the game locally, through the platform's streaming feature. |
Playing Together in the Open World
Because Streets of Rogue 2 is built as one large, seamless open world, co-op play shares that same world rather than a sequence of small levels. The developer has highlighted scenarios that suit group play, such as teaming up to plan a coup or causing chaos together across the island nation. The open-world structure is described in The Open World.
Controller Support
Controller support has been an explicit focus during development. Early demo patches added partial controller support, and later updates worked toward fuller gamepad support. The developer has cited gamepad implementation as one of the more time-consuming parts of development. Controller support pairs naturally with the local and split-screen co-op options above.
