Spinning Wheel is a refining craft station in Windrose. A textile refining station. Converts Flax Fiber into Linen Fabric, the core cloth material used in armor, sails, and supply recipes.

The Spinning Wheel is the gateway to Windrose's textile economy. Linen Fabric feeds nearly every mid-to-late armor recipe and is the base input for Broadcloth at higher-tier crafting. The Spinning Wheel requires a roof, which means it lives indoors with the Cooking Fire or inside a dedicated textile room alongside the Tanning Rack.
Farm flax at the Seedbed for Plants for a steady Flax Fiber supply; a single plot yields 3 Flax Fiber per harvest cycle.
The Spinning Wheel requires a full roof overhead; partial coverage or open-air placement fails the station.
Pair the Spinning Wheel with the Tanning Rack and Press in a single textile outbuilding for a compact refining layout.
The Spinning Wheel is the only bench in the current build that converts Flax Fiber into Linen Fabric. Because Linen Fabric is the shared base input for armor, ship sail prep, and a small number of cargo recipes, the Spinning Wheel sits upstream of the rest of the textile economy.
Downstream Station | What It Needs From Linen | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
Tanning Rack | Linen Fabric x1 per Tarred Fabric (with Tar x1) | Ship hull and sail upgrades at the Shipwright's Workshop |
Press | Linen Fabric x3 per Broadcloth | Late-game armor set upgrades and Tortuga trade goods |
Workbench and armor extenders | Linen Fabric x1 to x3 per piece | Common and Rare armor recipes across all factions |
Flax Fiber is produced from Seedbed for Plants harvests at a rate of 3 fiber per plot per cycle. One Spinning Wheel can absorb the output of three Flax plots without waiting, which is the natural plot-to-bench ratio to aim for when laying out a textile outbuilding. Doubling the Seedbed count without adding a second Spinning Wheel creates a Flax backlog instead of more Linen per hour.
Keep the Spinning Wheel under a continuous roof. Partial-cover placements silently fail the recipe check.
Place the bench inside the same roofed structure as the Tanning Rack and the Press. A single textile outbuilding reduces walk time when running Linen through the full Broadcloth chain.
Linen Fabric does not spoil, so the Spinning Wheel can run overnight without risking ingredient loss. Queue a long run before logging off if storage bins allow it.
