Overview

Sauce Pancake is a cooking recipe in Starsand Island. It is a savory pancake dish made by folding flour dough with a generous drizzle of soy sauce, producing a crispy, umami-rich snack. The recipe is purchased from the Merchant Ship that docks at Starsand Port, so you need to have completed the port construction quest before you can buy it.

Sauce Pancake is cooked on either the Campfire or Gas Stove. It restores 78 stamina and sells for 139 Coins, putting it in the mid-low tier of stove dishes. The recipe shines as an accessible mid-game meal because both of its ingredients (Flour and Soy Sauce) can be produced entirely from your own farm.

How to Unlock

The Sauce Pancake recipe is sold by the Merchant Ship that docks at Starsand Port. To access the Merchant Ship, you must first complete the Starsand Port Construction quest by helping Marston rebuild the Maritime Bureau. Once the port is operational, the Merchant Ship arrives and its stock refreshes every Monday. The ship operates from 08:00 to 22:00.

The Merchant Ship sells ten cooking recipes in total, including Sauce Pancake, Char Siu Bao, Cheesecake, Century Egg and Pork Congee, Tea Egg, Youtiao, Steamed Rice Roll, Steamed Corn Dumplings, Black Forest Cake, and Tiramisu. Check the ship each week to pick up any recipes you have not purchased yet.

Ingredient Sourcing

Flour

Flour is produced at the Separator by processing Wheat. Wheat is one of the earliest crops you can plant, available from the Happiness Seed Shop as soon as you begin the Farmer profession. A single Wheat harvest yields enough grain for several batches of Flour. Plant a dedicated Wheat field to maintain a steady supply, as Flour appears in over a dozen recipes.

Soy Sauce

Soy Sauce is brewed at the Brewing Barrel using 1x Soybean per batch. Brewing takes longer than Separator processing (roughly 2 to 4 in-game hours per batch), so start a batch early and let it finish while you handle other tasks. Soybeans are grown from seeds available at the Happiness Seed Shop. Since Soybeans are also used to make Tofu and Soy Milk, growing a generous patch ensures you have enough for all three uses.

Comparison to Similar Recipes

Several other Merchant Ship and flour-based recipes compete with Sauce Pancake. Here is how they stack up:

Sauce Pancake matches Century Egg and Pork Congee in stamina restoration but uses cheaper, easier-to-produce ingredients. Hot Dry Noodles offers better stamina and sell value for only slightly more ingredients, but it requires Sugar on top of Flour and Soy Sauce. If you have all the ingredients available, Hot Dry Noodles is the better choice for personal consumption; Sauce Pancake is the better choice when you want to conserve Sugar for other recipes.

Tips

• Sauce Pancake pairs well with a Soybean-focused farm. One Soybean patch can supply Soy Sauce (via Brewing Barrel), Tofu (via Separator), and Soy Milk (via Juicer), giving you three recipe ingredients from a single crop.

• Start your Brewing Barrel batches of Soy Sauce before heading out for the day. By the time you return from gathering or exploring, the batch should be finished.

• Build multiple Campfires or Gas Stoves to cook Sauce Pancakes in parallel. Cooking takes real in-game time, so having two or three stations running simultaneously speeds up your output.

• Check the Bulletin Board for villager requests. Cooked dishes often sell for a premium above the base 139 Coin price when fulfilling orders.
