The Machete is a Junior-tier woodcutting tool in Starsand Island. It is the third step in the woodcutting upgrade chain after the Axe and the Impact Axe, and is the tool required to chop White Fig trees for Premium Wood. Higher-tier axes cut faster, harvest rarer wood types, and consume less stamina per swing.
The Machete blueprint is sold by Zerine at the General Store for 2,500 Coins. The blueprint becomes available after reaching Junior Crafter Profession certification.

The Machete recipe consumes the Impact Axe, so you are upgrading the existing tool rather than keeping a collection. If you still need to chop Hardwood while waiting on Premium Wood materials, craft a spare Axe before crafting the Machete.
Each axe tier unlocks new tree species. The Machete is the only tool that can register damage on White Fig trees, the source of Premium Wood.

The Machete sits between the Impact Axe and the Sharp Machete in the woodcutting upgrade chain. The Chainsaw is a separate Senior-tier endgame branch that does not consume a Machete in its recipe.

Premium Wood harvesting. The Machete is the only tool that chops White Fig trees, the source of Premium Wood. Premium Wood feeds the Worktable III upgrade, the Crossbow, the Sharp Machete itself, and many Senior-tier furniture and building blueprints.
Faster Hardwood and Softwood harvesting. The Machete cuts every lower-tier tree faster than the Impact Axe and Axe, and consumes less stamina per swing.
Vegetation clearing. Useful for clearing dense plant cover during exploration. See the Gathering Materials Guide for tree-by-tree details.
Craft a spare Axe first. The Machete recipe consumes the Impact Axe. If you still need to harvest Hardwood while gathering Premium Wood materials, build an extra basic Axe before crafting the Machete.
Plan a Premium Wood farming route. White Fig trees cluster near Cloudrest Lake, the shooting range area, and around the Exploration Club in Green Meadow. A regular sweep keeps your Premium Wood plank stockpile healthy.
Stock 60 or more Premium Wood before Worktable III. The Worktable III upgrade and adjacent Senior-tier recipes burn through Premium Wood quickly.
