Arcadia is the second city a Pioneer reaches in Soulbound: Online, and the one where the game stops being a desert survival story and starts being an economy. It is a dense techno-dystopian metropolis of neon signage, shuttered storefronts and rentable apartment doors, governed by a figure known only as the Mayor and patrolled by Captain Ricken and the Arcadian Guards. It sits north-west of Virelda along the Arcadia Approach.
Arcadia is not open to a new character. The city gate is a genuine gate, and the guard on it wants persuading.
Clear the entry-tier Eastern Reach dungeon out of Virelda at least once.
Speak to the Virelda Chief to pick up the follow-up quest.
Present the Silver Chalice from your inventory to bribe the guard on the front gate.
There are back doors, but they are one-way. A Recall Disc teleport, a failed dungeon run or a server restart can drop you inside the walls without the questline, and once you leave that way you cannot get back in until you have actually finished it. Doing the quest properly is the only durable route.
Arcadia concentrates services that Virelda either lacks or only offers in a basic form. Most of a mid-game session that is not spent in a dungeon happens here.
Location | What It Is For |
|---|---|
Dr. Fritz's Lab | The permanent upgrade bench for abilities and weapons, in the south-east of the city. It also starts the quest that hands you the hacking tool. |
DeSat Bank | Personal storage, the Gold Bond exchange, and a trading machine that deals in gold, ores and seeds. |
The Tired Soul | A bar. It carries quests and regenerates stamina, which makes it a natural stop between gathering runs. |
Yoku Forge | Sells furnishings for your apartment. |
Hector's Workshop | Basic tools and crafting. The Manufacturing Table outside is where a starting pickaxe becomes an iron one. |
BuzzBox and SnackSnipe | Vending machines carrying Recall Discs, health potions, food and cooking ingredients. |
Wefco Mart | A general store on the main strip. |
Teshimi VIP Area | A members-only area tied to apartment ownership. |
Apartment Complex | Rentable city housing, alongside the rentable doors scattered along the streets. |
The city also holds two dungeon entries of its own, both listed at a difficulty label that sits outside the ordinary beacon ladder.
Direction | Leads To |
|---|---|
Subway | West of the front gates, and the fast way back out. |
Arcadia Approach | South-east, back towards Virelda. |
Abandoned Area | Through to the Hall of Death, where the Spectra encounter is fought, and onward towards Lunar City. |
Trains also run between Arcadia and Virelda, so once both are unlocked the two hubs are a short trip apart rather than a trek.
Arcadia has the densest named cast in the game so far. Dr. Fritz runs the lab; Hector runs the workshop and hands out the Ability Configurator once the Foundational Error quest is done; Major is one of the characters who teaches a ranged ability; Hazel owns The Tired Soul; Petra staffs Wefco Mart; Magistrate Levi, Executive Lora and the Mayor sit on the civic side; Guard Captain Ricken and the Arcadian Guards handle the gate; and Clyde, Cleo, Sven, Tammy and Viper turn up across the city's quest lines.
District layouts, vendor stock and quest requirements are being tuned during Early Access, so treat specific prices and unlock steps as current rather than fixed.
