Romestead runs on PC for Windows. Beartwigs publishes minimum and recommended system requirements directly on the game's Steam store page, and these are the values targeted for the Early Access build. The game does not list Mac or Linux support, although players have reported success on Steam Deck.
PC Requirements
Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
Operating system | Windows 10 (64-bit) | Windows 10 (64-bit) |
Processor | Intel Core i5 | Intel Core i7 |
Memory | 8 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
DirectX | Version 11 | Version 11 |
Storage | 2 GB available space | 4 GB available space |
Network | Not specified | Broadband Internet connection |
Aspect ratio | 16:9 recommended | 16:9 recommended |
A 64-bit processor and operating system are required. No discrete GPU is listed on the Steam page, which is consistent with the game's stylized art rather than a high-end visual budget.
Controller and Platform Support
Romestead launched with official controller support for Xbox and PlayStation 5 controllers. Many buttons can be remapped from the in-game options menu. Full controller support landed in patch 0.23.1_3 as part of the Early Access build.

Portuguese (Brazil)
Russian

Slovak
Thai
Translations beyond English are community-driven through Crowdin, with Beartwigs coordinating contributors via the official Discord.
Dedicated Servers
Standalone dedicated server software for hosting persistent worlds was released alongside the Early Access launch. Hosts can also set a password on their session for private play. See Multiplayer and Co-Op for cooperative play details.
Steam Deck
Romestead does not carry an official Steam Deck verification badge at launch. The 2 GB minimum install size and DirectX 11 baseline make it tractable on the Deck, and community reports during the demo period were broadly positive. The team patched a Steam Deck-specific crash during the playtest window in February 2026.
After launch, a hotfix raised the maximum UI scaling on Steam Deck to 3 for better legibility. Full controller support, including native Steam Input, is being actively worked on but was not complete at launch.
