Overview
Welcome to Roco Kingdom: World. This guide walks new players through everything they need to know during the first several hours of gameplay, from creating an account to building a competitive early-game team. The early game focuses on following the main story, catching your first batch of spirits, and unlocking core systems like mounts, the Home System, and Star Magic. Taking the time to understand these basics will set you up for a smoother mid-game experience.
Account Creation
Roco Kingdom: World requires a QQ or WeChat account to log in. Both options provide the same gameplay experience and full cross-platform data synchronization across PC, Android, iOS, and HarmonyOS. If you plan to play on multiple devices, make sure to use the same QQ or WeChat account on each platform so your progress carries over automatically.

After logging in, you will create your in-game character with a customizable appearance. Character appearance is purely cosmetic and has no effect on gameplay. You can change your character's look later through in-game items, so do not worry about making a perfect choice during initial creation.
Choosing Your Starter Spirit
Shortly after the opening tutorial sequence, you will choose one of three starter spirits. This is a permanent choice for your starting lineup, though all three starters can eventually be obtained later in the game through other means. Each starter has distinct strengths that suit different playstyles.
Spirit | Element | Strengths | Recommended Nature | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Fire Spark (火花) | High burst damage, fastest early clearing speed, strong offensive stats | Rash (+Sp.Atk / -Sp.Def) or Modest (+Sp.Atk / -Atk) | Players who want the fastest early progression and enjoy aggressive playstyles | |
Water Blue (水蓝蓝) | Balanced stats, excellent late-game PVP viability, versatile moveset | Calm (+Sp.Def / -Atk) or Bold (+Def / -Atk) | Players planning for endgame PVP who want a spirit that scales well | |
Meow (喵喵) | Tanky with self-healing, forgiving for mistakes, strong sustain in long fights | Impish (+Def / -Sp.Atk) or Careful (+Sp.Def / -Sp.Atk) | Beginners who want a forgiving experience with less risk of fainting |
All three starters are strong choices. Fire Spark offers the fastest clear speed in early story content due to its raw damage output, making it the most popular pick among experienced players. Water Blue is the best long-term investment for PVP, as its final evolution has a versatile kit that performs well in ranked battles. Meow is the most beginner-friendly option thanks to its self-healing and sturdy defenses, which give new players more room to learn battle mechanics without constantly needing to heal at rest points.
Early Game Progression
The main story quests are your primary source of experience, currency, and system unlocks during the first 20 or so levels. Follow the main quest line closely, as it introduces core mechanics one at a time and rewards you with essential items and spirits. Side quests are worth picking up as you pass through areas, but prioritize the main story for the most efficient early leveling.
Key Story Milestones
Level Range | Milestone | What You Unlock |
|---|---|---|
1-5 | Tutorial and starter selection | Basic combat, spirit capture tutorial |
5-10 | First wild area exploration | Star Magic, expanded spirit encounters |
10-15 | Dimo joins your team | Light-type mascot spirit given through story |
16 | Home System unlocks | Personal housing and garden via Peter Avenue NPC |
20-25 | Mid-game story arc | Access to additional map zones, deeper combat mechanics |
26 | Sound Speed Dog mount | First land mount for faster overworld travel |
30 | Storm Bird mount | Air mount, evolved from Winter Feather Sparrow |
Getting Dimo
Early in the main storyline, you will receive Dimo, the game's light-type mascot spirit. Dimo is given to all players through a scripted story event and does not require capturing. As a light-type spirit, Dimo fills a type niche that complements most starter choices and becomes a reliable team member throughout the early and mid game. Many players keep Dimo on their team well into the endgame due to its solid stat spread and versatile moveset.
Mounts and Travel
The early game does not provide any mounts or fast travel options. Until roughly level 26 to 30, you will be traveling on foot. This can feel slow in the expansive open world, so plan your routes efficiently and use teleport beacons whenever they become available.
Mount | Type | How to Obtain | Level Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
Duck Jiji | Water | Obtained through early story progression | ~Level 10-15 |
Sound Speed Dog | Land | Unlocked through main story at level 26 | Level 26 |
Storm Bird | Air | Evolves from Winter Feather Sparrow at level 30 | Level 30 |
Duck Jiji is a water mount that lets you traverse rivers and lakes. Sound Speed Dog is your first proper land mount and dramatically speeds up overworld travel. Storm Bird provides aerial traversal and opens up previously unreachable areas. Prioritize reaching level 30 to unlock Storm Bird, as flight access is a major quality-of-life improvement.
Star Magic
Star Magic is one of the first abilities you learn through the Magic System. It serves a dual purpose in the overworld: striking wild spirits before capture and interacting with environmental objects. When you use Star Magic on a wild spirit, it becomes briefly stunned, giving you a short window to approach and initiate a capture encounter. This ability is essential for catching faster or more evasive spirits that would otherwise flee before you get close enough.

Star Magic also has combat applications. During certain boss encounters, enemies deploy protective shields that must be broken using Star Magic before your spirit attacks can deal damage. Learning to weave Star Magic into boss fight rotations is an important skill that becomes increasingly relevant as you progress into harder content.
Spirit Capture Basics
Capturing wild spirits requires Gulu Balls, which can be purchased from shops for 15,000 Roco Shells each or found in the overworld at certain pickup locations. The basic capture process involves weakening a wild spirit by reducing its HP in battle, then throwing a Gulu Ball to attempt the capture. Lower HP significantly increases your success rate.
Backstab capture bonus: If you approach a wild spirit from behind and initiate the encounter while positioned at its back, your capture rate is doubled. This is one of the most important techniques to master early, as it saves a substantial number of Gulu Balls over time. Use Star Magic to stun the spirit first, then circle around to its rear before starting the fight.
Capture restrictions: You cannot capture spirits that are 10 or more levels above your current trainer level, and you cannot capture any wild spirit above level 60 regardless of your own level. Plan your exploration accordingly and come back to high-level areas once you have leveled up sufficiently.
Home System
The Home System unlocks at level 16 after completing a quest from the NPC on Peter Avenue. Your home is a personal instanced space where you can place furniture, decorations, and functional items. The most important functional element of the home is the garden, where you plant flower seeds that produce attribute materials. These materials are used for spirit cultivation, making daily garden maintenance one of the most impactful recurring activities in the game.
Make a habit of planting and harvesting flower seeds every day, even if you are not actively playing much. The attribute materials they produce accumulate over time and become essential for optimizing your spirits' stats in the mid and late game.
Early Team Building
A solid early team should cover multiple element types to handle the variety of encounters you will face. A recommended early lineup consists of:
Your starter spirit (Fire Spark, Water Blue, or Meow)
Dimo (Light type, given through story)
Storm Bird (Flying type, evolves from Winter Feather Sparrow at level 30)
Duck Jiji (Water type, obtained early in story)
One support or coverage spirit of your choice
This lineup gives you a spread of four to five different element types, which is enough to handle most early and mid-game content. As you catch more spirits and learn the element type chart, you can swap in specialists for specific encounters. Do not feel locked into any team composition. Experimentation is part of the fun, and the game rewards having a deep bench of trained spirits for different situations.
Essential Early Tips
Save your Roco Shells. Gulu Balls cost 15,000 each and you will burn through them quickly if you try to capture everything you see. Be selective early on and save your shells for spirits you actually want on your team.
Check the Tips and Tricks page. It contains advanced strategies for farming currency, optimizing captures, and managing your energy in battles.
Talk to every NPC. Many NPCs offer side quests, free items, or useful information about nearby areas. Some hidden quests only trigger by speaking to specific NPCs.
Explore thoroughly. Hidden treasure chests, free Gulu Ball pickups, and secret passages are scattered throughout every zone. Taking the time to explore off the beaten path pays off in free resources.
