Grouping is the first item on the developer's list of gameplay focuses, and it shapes almost everything else. The stated design target is single group activities, with classes and skills built to feel familiar but with distinct identities and interdependence. The practical version of that is straightforward: most content expects more than one person, and the classes are written so that a group needs several of them.
What a group shares
Experience points, coin, and access to your enemy's corpse are all shared within the group. There is no separate loot roll system published as of September 2026; corpse access is the mechanism, and looting is done by right-clicking the corpse. See Combat and Items and Equipment.
The level spread rule
There is a hard limit on how far apart group members can be and still earn experience, and it changes once at level 15. Below that point it is a flat five level window measured from the highest-level member. Above it, the rule becomes proportional, which widens enormously as the group's top level rises.
Bracket | Requirement to gain experience | Worked example |
|---|---|---|
Until level 15 | Within 5 levels of the highest-level group member | A level 8 can earn experience with a level 13 |
Level 15 and above | At least two thirds of the highest-level member's level | A level 40 can group with a level 60 |
The rule governs experience, not membership. See Experience and Leveling for what else affects the rate.
Finding a group
Two systems exist side by side. The simpler one is the flag: /lfg on marks you in /who searches, and you can attach a short message to it. The second is the Group Finder, reached from the Social window with O, or through the inventory panel's Social tab.
Group Finder control | What it does |
|---|---|
List Group | Posts a listing. You can do this solo or while already in a group. |
Level range | Defines the range you want, generally within 5 levels. |
Classes, roles and objectives | Filters and describes what the listing is looking for. See Classes. |
Update Listing | Modifies or removes an existing listing. |
LFG List | Shows all players currently looking for a group. |
Send Tell | Messages the group leader directly. |
The Group Finder is a listing board. As of September 2026, no published page describes an automated queue that assembles a group for you or teleports anyone to a dungeon, and the game has no instanced dungeons for such a queue to lead to.
Group chat and targeting
Input | Effect |
|---|---|
/g or /group | Sends a message to your group. |
/p or /party | Same channel, alternate spelling. |
/gu | Guild channel, for player guilds rather than class guilds. See Interface and Commands. |
/of | Guild officer channel. |
F1 | Targets yourself. |
F2 to F6 | Target your group members, in order. |
Playing with a spread group
Because zones carry varied level ranges rather than a single band, a group whose members are a few levels apart can usually find something in the same zone that suits all of them. See Zones. Escape and repositioning tools that benefit a whole party are covered on Travel, and the corpse consent commands every group should set before a risky pull are on Death Penalty.
