Monsters & Memories is a Windows PC game. The specification below is the only one the developer has published, and it comes with a hedge that should travel with the numbers: information on minimum requirements is limited while optimisation work is still in progress, so this is what the team currently recommends rather than a locked or final requirement.
Current recommendation
Component | Recommendation |
|---|---|
Operating system | Windows 10 version 21H1 (build 19043) or higher |
Memory | 16 GB RAM |
Processor | A relatively modern CPU. No model is specified |
Graphics | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 with 6 GB of video memory, or equivalent |
The developer adds that dedicated GPUs below that specification, and some integrated GPUs, may be sufficient, but that performance will be limited. No CPU model or generation has been named.
What is not published
As of September 2026 the following do not exist as published figures. Each is an absence on the developer's own materials rather than a statement that the thing will never appear:
No recommended specification tier. Only the hedged minimum above has been published
No macOS or Linux requirement, and no macOS or Linux version
No handheld PC or console specification
No storage, network or peripheral requirement
Distribution and patching
The client is downloaded and updated through the developer's own launcher and patcher, built in house, rather than through any third party storefront. Accounts are created and managed on the developer's account site. Patching moved from FTP to content delivery network downloads over HTTP after the late 2023 stress tests, when FTP distribution saturated the available bandwidth and a hardcoded launcher endpoint made the problem worse. That change is part of the record on Development History.
The client can be downloaded at any time before the servers open on October 1, 2026, with further patches expected between now and then. Full pre-launch sequencing is on Early Access.
Performance expectations
Two points from testing are relevant to how the game behaves under load rather than to whether it will start. Shared, uninstanced zones mean that the heaviest frame rate cost is other players, not scenery: the late 2023 tests showed unoptimised city lighting combined with 500 or more players and thousands of corpses casting shadows as the dominant cost. That work drove light culling, corpse optimisation, smaller shadow map cascades and cloth physics culling through 2024. The zone design point behind it, that there is no plan to instance or shard zones, is covered on Niche Worlds Cult and Servers.
The developer also states plainly that it expects the first days and weeks of Early Access to look like the first days and weeks of any new MMO, which is worth factoring into launch week expectations regardless of hardware.
