Bow
September 12, 2026 at 01:16 AM
Initial version (2026-09-11)
The Bow is one of the three weapons available to the Ranger, and the class's dedicated long-range option. Every class in Chrono Odyssey can reach three weapons but equips only two at a time, so a Ranger who brings the Bow pairs it with either the Crossbow or the Rapier and swaps between the two during combat.

The Bow is the precision half of the Ranger's kit. It trades rate of fire for weight: individual shots hit hard, several of them apply control effects, and holding a shot at full charge is what produces the largest numbers. That charge window is also the weapon's cost, because a Ranger committing to a charged shot is standing still at the exact moment a melee enemy wants to close.
Most of the class's stun and crowd-control hooks sit on this weapon rather than on the Crossbow, which is why beta loadouts tended to treat the Bow as the burst and setup weapon and the Crossbow as the filler. The Bow is slow to come into its own at low levels and scales better than the Crossbow later, so early characters often feel worse with it than they will at higher weapon mastery.
One beta-era account of the weapon names five arrow types: Impact, Flaming, Frost, Poison and Explosive. That is the only published enumeration, it comes from a single source, and no damage value, duration or application rate has been published for any of them. Nothing states whether arrow types are selected manually, tied to specific skills, or unlocked through progression.
Every name below comes from the June 2025 closed beta build and is recorded by a single guide desk. Chrono Studio has said that all classes will be re-evaluated for combat balance alongside the Matrix rework, so treat the list as a snapshot of that three-day test rather than as launch behaviour. No damage percentage, resource cost or cooldown has been published for any Ranger skill, so none is given here.
Skill | Type | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Charged Shot | Active | A powerful single-target shot that stuns, opening a burst window. |
Radiant Arrow | Active | A finishing ability, strongest when it lands on a stunned target. |
Fan Shot | Active | A cone attack for clearing groups and setting up follow-ups. |
Retreating Shot | Active | Defensive mobility that still deals damage as it creates space. |
Focused Draw | Passive | Grants a temporary attack boost when the Bow is drawn. |
Charged Shot into Radiant Arrow was the recorded burst pattern: the stun from the first creates the window the second is strongest in. Fan Shot handles clumped enemies and Retreating Shot is the weapon's answer to something arriving in melee range without giving up a damage instance to do it.
Focused Draw is a passive rather than a button. Drawing the Bow grants a temporary attack boost, which is the mechanical reason a Ranger running Bow and Rapier is rewarded for alternating rather than parking on one weapon: the Rapier's own draw passive, Piercing Blade, grants a critical-hit bonus on the way back. In the June 2025 build the swap itself carried no cooldown, though a short cooldown to prevent accidental double swaps is a stated change for the reworked build. See dual weapon switching for the full list of recorded swap passives.
The Bow carries its own weapon mastery track, separate from character level and from the Ranger's other weapons. Mastery is what unlocks the weapon's skills and passives, and progress on it is retained when the weapon is unequipped.
The Matrix System sits on top of that. Chrono Studio has stated that the Matrix gives four progression paths per weapon, twelve across a class, and that each weapon will support four distinct combat styles. The Matrix was not present in the closed beta build, and no Matrix node names or path names have been published for the Bow or for any other weapon.
The Bow is the only Ranger weapon named in any post-beta walk-back. Bow range and accuracy were listed among the issues being addressed when the release window slipped after the closed beta, so the numbers behind everything above should be expected to change before the weapon is playable again.
Ranger: the class the Bow belongs to.
Crossbow: the Ranger's sustained-damage ranged option.
Rapier: the Ranger's melee fallback.
Weapons: the full per-class weapon list.
Dual Weapon Switching: how the two equipped weapons swap in combat.
Weapon Mastery: the per-weapon progression track.
