Season 1: Soul Hunt

Added the official season roadmap image alongside the phase breakdown
Mistfall Hunter launched straight into its first season rather than adding one later. Season 1 is called Soul Hunt, and it arrived with the game on July 29, 2026, bringing a storyline, a difficulty tier, a competitive ladder, and a set of launch-window events. The systems it plugs into are described on Progression, Skills, and Talents.
The season is built around a concept the developers call the Fate Chart, which drives the seasonal storyline and records how the world is bending as hunters act on it. The gameplay that runs through it, Soul Hunt, is tied to the chart's progression and carries across every narrative phase of the season, so what players do feeds back into the direction the world takes. Soul Hunt is the season's name; Soul Harvest is the seasonal gameplay feature that runs inside it, and it rolls out progressively after launch rather than on day one.
The story behind it is the Valgr restarting their forbidden soul experiments, turning creatures into rampaging Cocoon Puppets in a bid to seize soul power and build a False God, which would tear the Web of Fate apart. Dew calls the hunters together to track down the wandering exiled souls and contain the corruption. The wider setting is on The World and Lore.
Rather than dropping the whole season at once, the developers staged it across three phases. Soul Harvest rolls out progressively after launch rather than on day one, and a later phase brings the Ancestor Tree to Hallowgrove as a random match event, where breaking its seal claims gifts from the ancient spirits and forces the usual choice between pushing for more and leaving with what you have.
Addition | Detail |
|---|---|
Polearm and Shield | A second weapon stance for the Withered Knight, with six new skills and a long-range teammate rescue |
Holy weapons | A weapon tier with exclusive gameplay affixes, dropping from map bosses, one unique weapon per boss |
Cataclysm difficulty | The hardest setting, added to Brandrgarde, where elite enemies are tougher and top-tier loot drops across the map |
Soul Hunt | The seasonal gameplay tied to the Fate Chart, with its own tasks and events |
Collection Pedestal | A display in your camp for the loot you have brought home |
Ladder and tier rewards | The Path of Glory ranked ladder, seven tiers from Duskborn to Zenith |
Battle pass | The Slumbering Contract, free after seven days of cumulative logins, alongside additional cosmetics |
Ancestor Tree | A random match event added in Phase III |
One planned addition did not make it. The Blackarrow second weapon was pushed back because of development timelines, so the class shipped with the bow alone. It has since been confirmed as a Javelin arriving in Season 2. The stance system it belongs to is on Combat and Weapons.
The developers published a phased roadmap rather than dropping the whole season at once.
Phase | What it adds |
|---|---|
Phase I | Einherjar Mode unlocks the Mist Lord challenge. Season tasks become available as a mysterious guest arrives at Windrest with news that pulls hunters toward an unknown fate. Soul Harvest opens: gather Soul Cocoons, challenge the Soulgnawer, and fight through a new multiplayer showdown for exclusive rewards. The Soul Harvest Exchange Shop trades exclusive collectibles, Soul Coins, and Moonlight Nectar. |
Phase II | Season tasks fully unlock as a new crisis surfaces alongside the guest, with the S1 Pip's Rare Pouch and the Nether Ferry skin as task rewards. Brandrgarde Solo Mode arrives. The Underlord Speed Challenge pays bonus rewards from Fern the Woodling for killing Underlords quickly. |
Phase III | The Golden Woodling arrives, a rare Woodling disguised as treasure. The Ancestor Tree becomes a random match event: break its seal for gifts from the ancient spirits, with rival hunters watching. A Season 2 teaser opens tasks that uncover clues and lock in early rewards, under the line that the fires of the past await their rekindling. |

Soul Harvest is the season's headline gameplay. In matches where the ritual is active, a new elite monster called the Soulgnawer appears, described as having a slender build, a serpentine lower body, and human-like facial features. She actively disrupts the ritual, so completing it means killing her, and doing that while rival hunters circle for a third-party ambush is the actual challenge. The creature is listed alongside the rest of the roster on Enemies and Bosses.
The first season's battle pass is called the Slumbering Contract, and it unlocks free after seven days of cumulative logins. The developers went further than a one-season giveaway: as long as you stay reasonably active during a season, you can renew into the next season's pass for free as well. The Slumbering Servant outfit, which drew heavy attention during Steam Next Fest, was added to the pass rewards and is redeemed with tokens earned through normal play.
Three things are confirmed for the second season: a new Blackarrow weapon, the Javelin; an all-new season theme with its own exclusive gameplay; and an all-new season-exclusive progression system. The developers said further seasonal content would be unveiled gradually.
The developers describe a season as running roughly three to four months. A season ends with a reset: most progression is wiped so the next season starts everyone level, though certain long-term progress carries over rather than being lost. A fresh roadmap is laid out toward the end of each season. Exact dates for the end of the first season have not been published.
A run of limited events, collected under the name The Gylden Rush, runs alongside the launch. The window opens at 01:00 UTC on July 30, 2026 and closes at 00:59 UTC on August 26, 2026.
