Season 1: Soul Hunt
July 22, 2026 at 06:04 AM
Initial version (2026-07-22)
Mistfall Hunter launches straight into its first season rather than adding one later. Season 1 is called Soul Hunt, and it arrives with the game on July 29, 2026, bringing a storyline, a difficulty tier, a competitive ladder, and a set of launch-window events. The systems it plugs into are described on Progression, Skills, and Talents.
The season is built around a concept the developers call the Fate Chart, which drives the seasonal storyline and records how the world is bending as hunters act on it. The gameplay that runs through it, Soul Hunt, is tied to the chart's progression and carries across every narrative phase of the season, so what players do feeds back into the direction the world takes. The developers noted the Soul Hunt name may still change, and the launch notes also refer to the season's themed gameplay as Soul Harvest.
The story behind it is the Valgr restarting their forbidden soul experiments, turning creatures into rampaging Cocoon Puppets in a bid to seize soul power and build a False God, which would tear the Web of Fate apart. Dew calls the hunters together to track down the wandering exiled souls and contain the corruption. The wider setting is on The World and Lore.
Rather than dropping the whole season at once, the developers staged it. Soul Hunt itself arrives a few weeks after the game goes live rather than on day one, and the mid-season update adds the Ancestor Tree to Hallowgrove, a structure that appears on the map over time and forces the usual choice between pushing for more and leaving with what you have.
Addition | Detail |
|---|---|
Polearm and Shield | A second weapon stance for the Withered Knight, with six new skills and a long-range teammate rescue |
Holy weapons | A weapon tier with exclusive gameplay affixes, dropping from map bosses, one unique weapon per boss |
Cataclysm difficulty | The hardest setting, added to Brandrgarde, where elite enemies are tougher and top-tier loot drops across the map |
Soul Hunt | The seasonal gameplay tied to the Fate Chart, with its own tasks and events |
Collection Pedestal | A display in your camp for the loot you have brought home |
Ladder and tier rewards | A competitive ladder with rewards attached to the tier you reach |
Battle pass | Free for every player in the first season, alongside additional cosmetics |
Ancestor Tree | Hallowgrove-only, added in the mid-season update |
One planned addition did not make it. The Blackarrow second weapon was pushed to a later season because of development timelines, so the class ships with the bow alone. The stance system it belongs to is on Combat and Weapons.
The developers describe a season as running roughly three to four months. A season ends with a reset: most progression is wiped so the next season starts everyone level, though certain long-term progress carries over rather than being lost. A fresh roadmap is laid out toward the end of each season. Exact dates for the end of the first season have not been published.
A run of limited events, collected under the name The Gylden Rush, runs alongside the launch. The window opens at 01:00 UTC on July 30, 2026 and closes at 00:59 UTC on August 26, 2026.
