Divination Clubs

Added the live guild layer: the level 28 club unlock, the daily rites contribution and club brawl, the league match, and the route into the Strategy Server; rewrote the faction-federation section as unpublished design intent rather than observed behaviour
Divination Clubs are the player-guild system in Lord of Mysteries. They are designed as a player-side adaptation of the in-fiction Tarot Club founded by Klein Moretti in his Mr. Fool persona. Each Divination Club has a guild hall, a member roster, an in-guild ritual chamber, and a bank, and members are awarded codenames drawn from the Tarot major arcana.
In the launch client the guild layer is presented simply as clubs (俱乐部), and that is the term the game's own competitive structures use.
Launch-window guidance sets out how the club layer opens up on a new character. It is the structure the game's endgame competition is built on rather than a purely social feature.
Element | What it does |
|---|---|
Unlock | Clubs become joinable at around character level 28 |
Daily contribution | A recurring club rites contribution task, the main way members feed their club's progress |
Club brawl | A daily internal club fight, available from the second day of a character's progression |
League match | A scheduled club league fixture later in the opening ten days, run in the evening |
Endgame route | Club standings feed the Strategy Server, the game's top competitive tier |
A separate order membership layer, distinct from clubs, opens earlier at around level 19 and carries its own ranks, paying a limited cosmetic at the second rank.
The Strategy Server admits only the highest-placing clubs from each division, sixteen per war zone, and its rewards are cosmetic: a permanent club war banner that accumulates marks with later results, and outfit sets. After a club wins a season, its banners are displayed across the city on the home server. Faction Warfare and PvP carries the full structure.
Player characters can found a Divination Club after meeting the campaign's prerequisite progress threshold. The founder takes the central seat, the Mr. Fool seat by analogy to the canonical Tarot Club, and assigns codenames to incoming members along the major arcana of the Tarot. Codenames are aesthetic but unlock specific role bonuses inside guild rituals. Initial roster cap scales with guild rank.
Guild leaders can promote members to officer roles, manage the bank, schedule shared rituals, and broker external alliances with other Divination Clubs.
The Tarot major arcana provide the 22 standard codename slots. A club is free to use any subset, and codenames are not formally locked to specific Pathways.
Codename | Typical holder | Bonus |
|---|---|---|
The Fool | The guild leader | Convenes shared rituals |
The Magician | The senior officer | Often allocated to a Beyonder of high Sequence inside the guild |
Justice | A Spectator aligned member | Small reputation bonuses for the guild's presence at aristocratic events |
The Hanged Man | A maritime or sailor-themed member | Small bonuses for sea-themed missions |
The Sun | A Bard aligned member | Buffs to Sun-related quests |
The Hermit | A Hermit aligned member | Bonuses to occult-research side activities |
The Star, The Moon, The Tower, The Lovers and the rest | Remaining major arcana slots | Each carries a small thematic bonus |
Each Divination Club has a guild ritual chamber where members perform shared rituals modelled on the canonical Tarot Club gathering ritual. Shared rituals provide sanity recovery for guild-mates, modelled on the Gray Fog gathering aesthetic; an information exchange where members share research notes and quest lead pointers through the ritual interface; Beyonder ingredient trading through an in-guild auction at fair-rate prices; a member petition channel for resource grants, mission backup, and mentorship; and cross-guild alliance ceremonies, where leaders invite other Divination Clubs to joint rituals for political coordination.
The canonical Tarot Club gathers in the Sefirah Castle within the Gray Fog under the protection of Mr. Fool himself. Player Divination Clubs run on a much smaller scale and within local geography: the guild hall is a physical building in the world, not a Gray Fog projection. The mechanical similarity is the codename system, the major-arcana role-bonus structure, and the ritualistic gathering pattern.
Some guild rituals require the Mr. Fool seat, meaning the leader, to be online to convene. This mirrors the canonical Tarot Club's requirement that Klein be present to open the gathering, and it makes guild leadership an active role rather than a purely cosmetic one.
What the launch build confirms is a two-step ladder: clubs compete, the best-placed clubs qualify for the Strategy Server, and the Strategy Server runs the game's large-scale competitive season.
Pre-launch descriptions went further, presenting a tier above the club in which Divination Clubs federate into factions that share territorial control, faction-versus-faction PvP scheduling, and city-siege participation rights. That federation tier has not been published as a live system, and it should be read as design intent rather than as observed behaviour until it turns up in the client.
