Initial Alger Wilson reference covering navy background, Hanged Man codename, and maritime quest lines
Alger Wilson (阿尔杰·威尔逊) is one of the founding members of the Tarot Club in the source material and an NPC in Lord of Mysteries. He is codenamed The Hanged Man (after the major arcana of the same name) and operates a privateer ship along the southern Sonia Sea coast. He is a former Loen Royal Navy officer turned Beyonder privateer, and his Pathway affiliation aligns him with sea-faring and survival-themed roles.
Alger Wilson left the Loen Royal Navy under murky circumstances and re-emerged as a Beyonder privateer captain in the southern seas. Like Audrey Hall, he was pulled into the Sefirah Castle by Klein Moretti during the Tarot Club's foundational ritual and joined as the Hanged Man. He brings the Tarot Club a maritime intelligence network, sea-routes context, and a calm operational temperament under pressure.
Alger's Pathway affiliation places him in the Hanged Man / Sailor Pathway group of the source material. His codename is The Hanged Man, mirroring his Pathway's Sequence 0 deity. Within the Tarot Club ritual, Alger sits at the Hanged Man seat and contributes maritime-themed divinations, weather-and-sea forecasts, and sea-route intelligence.
Alger appears in-game primarily through Backlund's maritime quest lines and through Mr. Fool ritual cameos. He surfaces in a small handful of Tingen-side encounters as a recurring contact for sea-related side quests, and he is a major NPC in the Backlund-and-southern-coast Act 2 content (which is gated behind the Crimson Test's scope).
Maritime guild activities (privateer convoys, sea-monster hunts, pirate-vs-pirate PvP encounters) are the gameplay loop where Alger serves as quest-giver. Players whose Pathway aligns with the Hanged Man / Sailor group receive a small reputation bonus when interacting with him.
Alger is calm, calculated, and survival-leaning. The source material frames his stoicism as a defence: a man who has seen the navy and the sea both betray him learns to trust no one and to plan three steps ahead. The game preserves this temperament in dialogue. He is friendly to the player but never warm; respect comes only after repeated demonstrations of competence and discretion.
The Alger Wilson questline is one of the campaign's longer relationship arcs. Beginning a Tingen-side intro encounter and continuing through Backlund and the southern coast, the line covers privateer contracts, navy intelligence operations, and several Sequence-7 Hanged Man / Sailor ritual moments. Reputation built across the line unlocks a custom maritime cosmetic set and an exclusive Pathway-themed mount-equivalent (a personal cabin aboard Alger's ship).
