Initial article covering restaurant business setup, Cooking skill connection, equipment, menu customization, employees, customer satisfaction, revenue, and tips
The Restaurant is one of the business types available in inZOI, introduced in the v0.5.0 update (December 2025) alongside the small business management system. Players can purchase a business lot, equip it with a commercial kitchen and dining area, hire staff, and serve meals to customers for Meow revenue.
Restaurant success depends heavily on the owner's Cooking skill level, which determines the quality and variety of available menu items. Higher-quality food attracts more customers, generates better reviews, and earns more revenue per meal served.
Opening a restaurant requires several steps:
Purchase an available business lot using Meow
Select the Restaurant business type from the available presets
Equip the kitchen with commercial cooking equipment (stoves, ovens, prep counters, refrigerators)
Furnish the dining area with tables, chairs, and decor
Set the menu based on recipes the owner Zoi has learned
Hire NPC employees to assist with cooking and service
Set operating hours and open for business
The initial investment varies depending on the lot size and equipment quality. Larger lots with better equipment cost more but can accommodate more customers and produce higher-quality food.
The restaurant's menu is directly tied to the recipes the owner Zoi has learned through the Cooking skill. As the owner's Cooking skill increases, more recipes unlock and food quality improves. Customers notice the difference: higher-quality meals lead to better satisfaction scores and repeat visits.
Players can customize which recipes appear on the menu. Offering a diverse selection of dishes attracts a wider range of customers, while specializing in a few signature items can build a reputation for quality.
Restaurants require staff to function smoothly. NPC employees can be hired to fill roles including cooks, servers, and hosts. Employee performance affects service speed and customer satisfaction. Well-managed staff keeps the kitchen running efficiently and ensures customers are served promptly.
Training employees and maintaining their morale contributes to overall business success. Understaffing leads to long wait times and poor reviews, while overstaffing eats into profit margins.
Revenue comes from customers ordering and paying for meals during operating hours. Several factors influence customer satisfaction and, by extension, revenue:
Food quality: Determined by the owner's Cooking skill and ingredient freshness
Service speed: How quickly orders are taken and meals are delivered
Ambiance: Decor, cleanliness, and overall atmosphere of the dining area
Pricing: Competitive pricing attracts more customers, but low prices reduce profit per meal
Like all businesses in inZOI, restaurants have a ranking system that improves with consistent management and positive customer reviews. Higher business ranks attract more customers, unlock new management options, and increase the restaurant's prestige in the community.
The Restaurant is one of nine business type presets available in the v0.5.0 business system:

Level up your Cooking skill before opening the restaurant. A higher skill means better food from day one.
Start with a modest menu and expand as your Cooking skill grows. Overextending early can lead to inconsistent quality.
Hire enough staff to handle peak hours but watch your payroll costs.
Invest in decor and ambiance. Customers care about the dining experience, not just the food.
Check customer feedback regularly and adjust your menu and pricing to match demand.
