In inZOI, Zois who commit crimes can be arrested, put on trial, and sent to prison. The justice system is tied to the Karma system; Zois with low Karma are more likely to face police intervention. Only Young Adult and older Zois can commit crimes and face the justice system.
A Zoi commits crimes, lowering their Karma score
Bad Karma causes other Zois to avoid them and spread rumors
If the crime score drops below a threshold, police may intervene
Zois with minor offenses receive a fine
Zois with serious offenses face immediate arrest
Zois placed under immediate arrest can post bail to buy time before their trial. Bail costs Meow and gives the Zoi temporary freedom to prepare for the trial and hire a lawyer.
Before trial, you can choose a lawyer:

When a lawyer is appointed, a trial preparation mission is assigned. The results of this preparation directly influence the opportunity cards that appear during the actual trial. Better preparation means better cards.
The trial proceeds automatically with opportunity cards appearing at key moments
Choosing the correct answers on opportunity cards can reduce sentencing
Not-guilty verdicts are difficult to achieve and require thorough preparation
Failed acquittal attempts may result in harsher sentences
Outcome | Description |

Prison Sentence | Zoi is sent to jail for a set period |
Zois sentenced to prison are held in custody for the duration of their sentence. During jail time, the Zoi is unavailable for normal gameplay activities.
The 2026 Roadmap includes full prison properties planned for Q2 2026. These will feature:

Lounges for socializing
Cafeterias for meals
Showers and hygiene facilities
Visitation rooms for family visits
Hiring an elite lawyer is expensive but significantly improves trial outcomes
Complete the trial preparation mission thoroughly for the best opportunity cards
Maintain positive Karma to avoid police attention entirely
Post bail immediately if arrested to gain time for trial preparation
Consider insurance policies that may help with legal costs
