Parking

Parking is a transportation feature introduced in the March 2026 Update (v0.7.0) that gives Zois designated places to store their vehicles. Before this update, vehicles had no persistent storage locations and would simply disappear after a Zoi exited them. The parking system addresses this by adding two types of parking infrastructure: family-exclusive parking spaces tied to residential properties, and public parking lots placed throughout the city. Both features work alongside the expanded driving and vehicle mechanics that were also part of the v0.7.0 update, including bicycles, vehicle theft, and improved collision handling.
Family-exclusive parking spaces are private, reserved spots attached to certain residential properties. These spaces are owned by the household living at that property and cannot be used by other Zois. When a Zoi purchases a new vehicle, the game automatically places it in one of the family-exclusive parking spaces associated with that Zoi's home. This means newly bought cars appear at the residence rather than spawning at a random location in the city.
Not every residential lot includes family-exclusive parking spaces. The availability depends on the specific property and its layout. Larger homes and lots are more likely to have dedicated parking, while smaller apartments or compact lots may not include any reserved spots. Players looking to take full advantage of the parking system should consider property size and parking availability when choosing where their Zoi household lives.
The placement process is automatic. When a Zoi completes a vehicle purchase, the game checks whether the household owns any family-exclusive parking spaces. If a space is available, the vehicle is placed there immediately. This removes the guesswork of locating a newly purchased car and ties vehicle ownership more closely to property ownership.
Public parking lots are shared parking areas distributed across the city that any Zoi can use. These lots were added alongside family-exclusive spaces as part of the same v0.7.0 update. They serve as communal vehicle storage points in commercial and public areas of the map, giving Zois places to leave their cars when visiting shops, workplaces, or other destinations away from home.
The addition of public parking lots complements the expanded driving system by creating logical endpoints for vehicle trips. Rather than vehicles vanishing when a Zoi arrives at a destination, the parking infrastructure provides a more grounded simulation of how transportation works in a city.
Type | Location | Access | Details |
|---|---|---|---|
Family-Exclusive | Residential properties | Household members only | Newly purchased vehicles are automatically placed here |
Public Parking Lots | Throughout the city | All Zois | Shared communal parking in commercial and public areas |
Street Parking | City streets | All Zois | On-street spots added near various city locations |
The parking system was part of a broader set of driving and vehicle improvements shipped in the v0.7.0 anniversary update. Several other transportation features launched alongside parking.
Feature | Description |
|---|---|
Zois can ride bicycles as vehicles, including tandem riding with a second Zoi on the back | |
Citywide Driving | Zois can drive vehicles found throughout the city |
Vehicle Theft | Zois can attempt to steal vehicles belonging to other Zois, with a chance of being arrested |
Collision Safety | Vehicles now slow down automatically when a collision is imminent |
Collision Interactions | Improved interactions when vehicles collide with objects; damaged objects remain broken if a Zoi stands on them |
Check property parking before buying: Not all residential lots have family-exclusive parking spaces. If vehicle storage matters to your household, inspect the property layout before purchasing.
Use public lots for errands: When sending a Zoi across town to work or shop, public parking lots provide convenient stopping points so vehicles stay accessible.
Pair with the expanded driving system: The parking system works best when combined with the other v0.7.0 vehicle features. Purchasing a car, parking it at home, and driving it to a public lot near work creates a realistic daily routine.
