Article on the minimap introduced in v0.7.0, covering display, navigation, and settings
The minimap was added to InZOI in the v0.7.0 anniversary update on March 26, 2026. It displays a small overhead map in the corner of the screen showing the immediate surroundings of the active Zoi. The minimap was one of the most requested quality-of-life features from the community, as navigating larger neighborhoods without it required frequent trips to the full city map.
The minimap appears in the corner of the screen (bottom-right by default) as a circular or square overlay. It renders a top-down view of the area around the currently selected Zoi, including nearby roads, lot boundaries, and building footprints.
Elements displayed on the minimap:
Roads and pathways
Lot outlines and building shapes
Community locations (parks, shops, restaurants, gyms)
Points of interest marked with icons
The selected Zoi's position and facing direction
Other household members shown as colored dots
The minimap updates in real time as the Zoi moves through the world. It rotates with the camera by default, though a fixed-north orientation option may be available in settings.
The primary purpose of the minimap is navigation. It helps players orient themselves within neighborhoods, identify nearby lots, and plan movement without pausing the game to open the full city map.
This is particularly useful in larger neighborhoods where streets can look similar. The minimap provides constant spatial awareness, letting players quickly spot the nearest park, shop, or community lot without searching.
When playing a household with multiple Zois, the minimap shows the position of each household member as a distinct icon or colored dot. This makes it easy to keep track of where everyone is at a glance, which is helpful for managing activities across different parts of the neighborhood.
Clicking on a household member's dot on the minimap is a quick way to switch the active camera to that Zoi, saving time compared to using the household panel.
The minimap is distinct from the full city map that is accessible via the M key in City Edit Mode. The city map shows the entire urban area and is used for large-scale navigation and lot management. The minimap, by contrast, covers only the immediate vicinity and is meant for moment-to-moment orientation during gameplay.
Both tools complement each other: use the minimap for local navigation and the full city map for cross-neighborhood travel or lot planning.
The minimap can be toggled on or off through the game's Settings menu. Available options include:
Visibility toggle : Show or hide the minimap entirely
Size : Adjust the minimap's on-screen size (small, medium, large)
Opacity : Control the transparency of the minimap overlay so it does not obstruct gameplay visuals
Orientation : Choose between camera-relative rotation and fixed-north display
Players who prefer a clean screen can disable the minimap and rely on the full city map instead. Others may set it to a high-transparency, small size for subtle background awareness.
Reduce minimap opacity if it overlaps with important UI elements during gameplay.
Use the minimap to locate household members before sending them on errands to avoid selecting the wrong Zoi.
The minimap pairs well with Phone Calls (also added in v0.7.0) for coordinating household activities remotely.
If the minimap feels too small to read, increase its size in settings rather than zooming in, which can reduce the visible area.
Toggle the minimap off during cinematic moments or screenshots for a cleaner view.
