Halloween Festival
March 31, 2026 at 02:18 PM
Initial version
The Halloween Festival is a seasonal event introduced in inZOI's v0.4.0 update, released on October 30, 2025. It transforms both Dowon and Cahaya into festive autumn wonderlands filled with pumpkin patches, spooky decorations, and nighttime activities. The update brought pumpkin farming and carving, Trick-or-Treat events, ghost fish, over 100 new costumes, more than 150 new building items, and a full ghost gameplay system.
Halloween in inZOI has two completely different faces: day and night. During the day, players can spend their time harvesting and carving pumpkins. When night falls, children go trick-or-treating through the neighborhoods, and ghostly fish begin to appear across the waters.
Pumpkins were added as a new crop with the Halloween Festival. Players who enjoy gardening can grow and harvest pumpkins on their own lots. For those who prefer to skip the growing process, pumpkins are also available for purchase from the Farming Supply Store or through the Pocket Market smartphone app.
Once harvested, pumpkins serve as the core ingredient for several Halloween activities. They can be carved into Jack-o'-Lanterns at a crafting table, cooked into seasonal recipes, or sold for income.
Three new pumpkin-based recipes were added alongside the festival. All three require harvested pumpkins as the primary ingredient and can be prepared at a kitchen stove.
Recipe | Description |
|---|---|
Pumpkin Soup | A warm seasonal soup made from fresh pumpkins. |
Pumpkin Pie | A classic autumn dessert baked with pumpkin filling. |
Sweet pumpkin treats. Pumpkin Candy can also be given out during Trick-or-Treat events. |
Pumpkins can be processed at a crafting table to create Jack-o'-Lanterns. The carving process produces lanterns with various shapes and facial expressions, giving players creative flexibility in how they decorate their homes.
Jack-o'-Lanterns have two primary uses:
Headgear: Zois can wear carved Jack-o'-Lanterns on their heads as a festive costume piece.
Decoration: Place them around your home, yard, or porch to set the Halloween mood.
Carving is repeatable, so players can produce as many Jack-o'-Lanterns as they have pumpkins to work with. They make for great additions to both indoor and outdoor spaces during the autumn season.
The Trick-or-Treat system is the centerpiece of the Halloween Festival's nighttime activities. By placing a Halloween Candy Basket on your property, children from the neighborhood will begin visiting each evening to collect candy.
To start receiving trick-or-treaters, follow these steps:
Purchase or craft a Halloween Candy Basket and place it on your property.
Make sure the basket is stocked with candy. Special flavored candy is available at affordable prices through the Pocket Market app.
Have your adult household members stay home for at least an hour before the event window begins.
Wait for children to arrive during the 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM window each night.
For best results, position candy baskets near the sidewalk rather than directly by the front door. Each basket placed attracts exactly one child visitor per night. Placing multiple baskets results in staggered visits throughout the evening window rather than simultaneous arrivals.
When a child arrives, the active Zoi can interact with them to hand out candy. Only the Zoi who was active when the event notification appeared can distribute candy; other household members can chat with the visiting children but cannot exchange treats.
Players can give candy repeatedly to the same child until the basket empties. If you refill the basket during a visit, the exchange can continue. The type of candy you distribute influences which gifts you receive in return, so experimenting with different candy varieties may yield rarer rewards.
Each candy exchange yields approximately three new Halloween furniture pieces. There are 58 unlockable building items available through Trick-or-Treat events, along with 38 other Halloween items. The building item rewards break down by category:
Category | Number of Items |
|---|---|
Common Items | 39 |
Living Room Items | 15 |
Outdoor Items | 4 |
With enough candy stocked up, dedicated players can unlock all available items within one to two in-game days. Baskets should be emptied and refilled daily to ensure children return the following evening.
Five new ghost fish species were introduced as part of the Halloween Festival. These rare, glowing fish begin to appear in seas and lakes once night falls, making them a unique addition to the fishing system.
Ghost fish can only be caught between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM. They spawn in both ocean waters and freshwater lakes across Dowon and Cahaya. Ghost fish emit a faint glow, making them visually distinct from regular fish, but they are quite rare. Standard fishing techniques work; no special bait or equipment is required.
Once caught, ghost fish can be used in several ways:
Fish Tank Display: Place ghost fish in a fish tank at home to create an eerie, glowing atmosphere.
Collection: Gather all five types of ghost fish to complete the Halloween collection.
Selling: Ghost fish can be sold for in-game currency, typically at a higher price than common fish due to their rarity.
The Halloween Festival added over 100 new cosmetics and outfits so that Zois can dress for the occasion. These range from spooky themes to playful autumn styles, providing plenty of variety for character customization.
In addition to the general cosmetic additions, a set of exclusive items was made available through the official Palet account on Canvas:
Item Type | Quantity |
|---|---|
Outfit Sets | 4 |
Shoes | 1 pair |
Socks | 1 pair |
Hats | 2 |
Accessories | 2 |
Players can search for the Palet account on Canvas to download these Halloween costumes directly. Jack-o'-Lanterns carved from pumpkins can also be worn as headgear, doubling as both a decoration and a costume piece.
More than 150 new building items were introduced with the Halloween Festival, allowing players to fully transform their homes and lots into haunted displays. These include indoor furnishings, outdoor props, and seasonal decor that fits the autumn and Halloween theme.
Building items are obtained through two main channels:
Trick-or-Treat rewards: 58 building items are unlocked by distributing candy to visiting children (see the Trick-or-Treat section above).
Purchase and crafting: The remaining items are available through normal in-game purchasing, crafting, or the Pocket Market.
The decoration options let players set up everything from cobweb-covered furniture to spooky outdoor displays with Jack-o'-Lanterns and ghostly props.
Alongside the Halloween Festival, the v0.4.0 update introduced a full ghost gameplay system. When a Zoi dies, players can choose the "On to the Afterlife" option to continue playing as a ghost for three in-game days.
After selecting the afterlife option, the deceased Zoi enters a ghost state. During these three days, unique needs and desires will appear depending on the cause of death. Ghosts can unlock special skills by fulfilling these death-related urges. Players can also accept ghost-related missions through Claire at the AR Library, which reveal the stories of other ghosts in the world.
Once the three-day ghost period ends, the player faces a final choice:
Ascend to the afterlife: The ghost peacefully departs the world.
Attend their own funeral: The ghost visits their funeral at the Funeral Home, Columbarium, or Cemetery before departing.
The update also added new Funeral Home, Columbarium, and Cemetery properties. When a Zoi living in the city passes away, an urn is generated. Surviving household members or acquaintances can hold a funeral using the "Make Event" option. These memorial locations add emotional depth to the life simulation and tie naturally into the Halloween Festival's theme of the supernatural.
The Halloween Festival takes place across both of inZOI's main cities:
Location | Halloween Activities |
|---|---|
Pumpkin farming, Trick-or-Treat events, ghost fish in lakes, decorations throughout the city. | |
Ghost fish in the ocean and lakes, Trick-or-Treat events, pumpkin purchasing from local shops, and the Beach Club area decorated for the season. |
Street decorations appear automatically across both cities during the autumn season. New street objects such as drinking fountains, fitness equipment, parasols, lifeguard stands, and trash cans were also placed throughout Dowon and Cahaya as part of the broader v0.4.0 update.
The Halloween Festival content is permanent and not restricted to October. Once the v0.4.0 update is installed, all Halloween activities remain accessible year-round. Items unlocked through Trick-or-Treat events stay in your inventory for all current and future save files. The Limited Edition Halloween Outfit Set, which was initially exclusive to October, was later made available without time restrictions as part of the December 2025 update.
Trick-or-Treat events continue to function whenever a Candy Basket is placed on the property, regardless of the in-game season. Ghost fish, however, appear only during the autumn season at nighttime.
Stock up on candy from the Pocket Market before starting the Trick-or-Treat event. Having plenty of candy lets you maximize rewards per evening.
Place multiple candy baskets to attract more than one child per night. Each basket draws one visitor, so three baskets means three separate visits.
Position baskets near the sidewalk for the best chance of triggering visits on time.
Refill baskets mid-visit to continue the candy exchange with the same child without waiting for the next night.
For ghost fish, head to any lake or ocean shore after 6:00 PM and fish until 6:00 AM. Patience is key since ghost fish are rare.
Grow your own pumpkins rather than buying them if you want to save money. Pumpkin seeds are a one-time investment that yields multiple harvests.
Carve extra Jack-o'-Lanterns to use as both decorations and headgear for fun photo opportunities with your Zois.
Check the Palet account on Canvas early to grab the exclusive Halloween costume sets.
