causes

• Electronic devices: Using electronics carries a random fire risk, especially with multiple devices running. Wall-mounted TVs and malfunctioning appliances are common culprits.

• Cooking: Kitchen mishaps can ignite fires. See Cooking.

• Arson: A Zoi might start a fire deliberately, though player-ordered arson is not fully implemented.

• City Fire Prevention Rate: Accessible via Smartphone > City Map > Manage City. Lowering this rate increases fire likelihood from electronics.

effects

Fires spread quickly to nearby furniture and objects. Burnt items become unusable and need replacement. Zois trapped in fires risk death.

responding to fires

• Report Fire -- Summons the fire department (response time varies)

• Evacuate to Safety -- Safest option, the Zoi leaves the danger zone

• Put Out Fire -- Risky manual extinguishing attempt, potentially fatal

prevention equipment

Fire alarms (50-150 Meow) provide early warning with flashing lights and sounds but don't contact emergency services automatically. Fire extinguishers (100 Meow), outdoor fire hydrants (400 Meow), and indoor fire hydrants (171 Meow) help with manual extinguishing.

aftermath

After a fire, Zois must clean ashes and debris. Damaged items may be repairable if the Zoi has sufficient Housework skill. Destroyed items need to be repurchased.
