Coffee Craft Skill
March 12, 2026 at 11:07 AM
Major expansion: added complete recipe list for all 11 skill levels with prices, pod machine distinction, drink quality mechanics, detailed cafe business strategy, latte art drinks, and leveling tips
Coffee Craft is inZOI's specialty beverage skill focused on coffee and espresso preparation. Rather than preparing meals, a Zoi with this skill carefully brews various cups of coffee, from simple espresso shots to complicated latte art. It is available from the Teenager life stage through Elder and is leveled using the Coffee Grinder and Espresso Machine, two pieces of equipment that can be purchased through Build Mode. Coffee Craft is one of the most economically useful skills for player-owned business operations, particularly cafes, where a high-skill barista Zoi directly increases beverage sale prices.
Equipment | Purpose | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Coffee Grinder | Grinds coffee beans into grounds before brewing | Required for all espresso machine recipes; purchased from Build Mode kitchen appliances |
Espresso Machine | Brews espresso-based drinks; primary leveling tool | Interact and select "Make Coffee" to open the recipe menu |
Coffee Pod Machine | Makes instant coffee without skill requirements | Does NOT raise Coffee Craft skill; only produces basic Drink Coffee (4 Meow) and Drink Decaf Coffee (5 Meow) |
Both the Coffee Grinder and Espresso Machine must be placed in your home or business property. Having both items in the same room is the most efficient setup for leveling sessions. The Coffee Pod Machine is a separate, simpler appliance that produces quick drinks but does not contribute to skill progression. For skill development, you must use the espresso machine and grinder combination.
There are 36 distinct coffee recipes spanning skill levels 0 through 10. Each level unlocks new drinks at a higher price point. Locked recipes appear grayed out in the menu until the required skill level is reached.

When brewing, each cup has a chance to come out at different quality levels. Quality affects the drink's appearance and may influence sale price in a cafe business. You can only brew one cup at a time. Repeated brewing of the same recipe is the primary way to level the skill.
Coffee and espresso drinks expire if left out, similar to how cooked food expires in the Cooking system. Prepared beverages that are not consumed within a certain in-game time window will spoil and be discarded automatically. In a cafe business, this means it is most efficient to prepare drinks in response to customer demand rather than pre-stocking large quantities.
The business system introduced in v0.5.0 (December 2025) allows Zois to own and operate cafes. Coffee Craft is the central skill for cafe operations.
Purchase a business property through the Business App on the Smartphone.
Place a Coffee Grinder and Espresso Machine on the business lot.
Register the business and set operating hours.
Stock coffee by interacting with the machines and preparing drinks before opening.
Assign a Zoi as the barista. Their Coffee Craft level determines available menu items and prices.
A cafe staffed with a Level 10 Coffee Craft Zoi generates nearly three times the revenue per customer compared to a Level 0 Zoi. Top-level drinks sell for 15 Meow each versus 5 Meow for basic espresso. Some players report earning over 13,000 Meow per day from a well-run cafe with two employees.
Key considerations for cafe profitability:
Staff can only prepare drinks at their own skill level. Hire or train baristas with high Coffee Craft for better menu options.
Arrive early and pre-stock coffee before opening. Customers buy faster than staff can prepare drinks during peak hours.
Employee wages and daily operating fees reduce net profit. A small, efficient cafe with one or two skilled baristas often outperforms a large operation with many low-skill staff.
Combine Coffee Craft with Baking and Cooking to offer food alongside coffee for a fully stocked cafe.
Drink prices scale linearly from 5 Meow at Level 0 to 15 Meow at Level 10:
Skill Level | Price per Drink | Number of Recipes |
|---|---|---|
Level 0 | 5 Meow | 5 drinks |
Level 1 | 6 Meow | 3 drinks |
Level 2 | 7 Meow | 2 drinks |
Level 3 | 8 Meow | 2 drinks |
Level 4 | 9 Meow | 4 drinks |
Level 5 | 10 Meow | 3 drinks |
Level 6 | 11 Meow | 2 drinks |
Level 7 | 12 Meow | 2 drinks |
Level 8 | 13 Meow | 5 drinks |
Level 9 | 14 Meow | 2 drinks |
Level 10 | 15 Meow | 3 drinks |
Place the Coffee Grinder and Espresso Machine in the same room for the most efficient leveling setup.
Spam-brew espresso at Level 0 for fast early levels. The 5-Meow cost is negligible.
The Coffee Pod Machine does not raise the skill at all. Use it only for quick caffeine, not for training.
Level 8 unlocks latte art drinks (Heart, Rosetta, Cat, Swan), which are both higher value and visually impressive.
Do not pre-make large batches of coffee for your cafe. Drinks expire like food, and wasted drinks cut into profits.
For cafe businesses, level your barista Zoi to at least Level 5 before opening. The Viennese specialties at 10 Meow each provide a solid baseline revenue.
Combine Coffee Craft with Baking in a cafe for the best revenue. Baked goods do not expire as quickly as coffee and provide steady income between coffee orders.
Coffee Craft is a fun hobby skill even without a business. It fulfills the Zoi's preferences if they enjoy coffee and provides a sense of progression.
