Overview
Art is one of the 27 skills available in inZOI. It governs a Zoi's ability to create visual artwork, primarily through painting on an easel or creating murals and street art in public spaces. Art is available to Zois from the Teenager life stage onward through Senior. As the skill levels up from 1 to 10, new painting styles unlock and the monetary value of finished pieces increases dramatically, making Art one of the most profitable skills in the game.

Paintings created through the Art skill can be sold on the Pocket Market for Meow (the in-game currency), or displayed in a Zoi's home as decorations. The skill also connects to the Great Painter ambition under the Creative Expression category, which requires reaching high Art proficiency and completing a series of painting milestones. Completing that ambition grants the ability to gain additional emotions on art gallery properties.
How to Start
The most effective way to begin developing the Art skill is to purchase an Easel from Build Mode and place it on your Zoi's lot. Interacting with the easel gives you the option to select a painting style and canvas size. Your Zoi will then work at the easel, building up the painting in several stages, gaining Art experience throughout the process. The easel doubles as a skill trainer and income generator since every finished painting can be sold.
Another option is to read Art books from a bookshelf. Select a book from your bookcase with a title that suggests art is the main subject, and your Zoi will read it for a consistent skill boost. Reading is less efficient than painting for raw experience but can supplement your training when your Zoi needs a break from the easel or when you do not have one available yet.
Note that doodling at a table is a separate activity that raises the Creativity skill (a Child-stage skill), not the Art skill. To train Art specifically, use an easel, paint murals, or appreciate artwork.
Activities That Raise Art
Activity | Description |
|---|---|
Painting on an Easel | The primary and most efficient method. Your Zoi paints a canvas of the selected style and size, earning experience based on the painting's complexity and the time spent. This also produces a sellable product. |
Painting Murals | Mural Spaces are scattered around Dowon and Bliss Bay. Look for designated wall spaces, such as the red brick wall near Sanded Villa in Dowon. Your Zoi paints directly on the wall. Murals take less time than easel paintings but cannot be taken home or sold. |
Street Art and Graffiti | Street Art Spaces work similarly to murals but are usually found on the ground rather than on walls. In Dowon, look near Harang River West and Clover Park for accessible spots marked with a white spray can icon on the map. Simply select the spray can and choose a graffiti option. |
Appreciating Art | Visiting the Narim Art Gallery in Dowon, viewing paintings in another Zoi's home, or interacting with any artwork and selecting the "Appreciate" option provides a small Art skill boost. This is a passive method but still counts toward progression. |
Reading Art Books | Select an art-related book from any bookshelf. There are two types of art books: named art books (15 minutes per session, 16 titles available) and standard art books (30 minutes per session, 8 titles, grants +1 Inspired mood). Both contribute to skill gain, though books are the slowest training method and produce no sellable output. |
Skill Levels and Painting Types
The Art skill progresses through 10 levels. At key level thresholds, new painting styles unlock. Each style can be painted in three canvas sizes: Small, Medium, and Large.
Skill Level | Unlock |
|---|---|
Level 1 | Still Life (Small, Medium, Large) - Simple compositions of objects like fruit bowls and flowers. The starting style available to every aspiring artist. |
Level 2 | Portrait (Small, Medium, Large) - Paintings of Zoi faces. The quality and detail of portraits improve noticeably as your skill advances. |
Level 4 | Landscape Painting (Small, Medium, Large) - Scenic vistas of the in-game world. A popular choice for decorating homes. |
Level 6 | Pop Art (Small, Medium, Large) - Bold, colorful pieces with a distinctly modern style. |
Level 8 | Abstract Art and Surrealism (Small, Medium, Large each) - The most complex and highest-value styles. These command premium prices on the Pocket Market. |
Painting Duration
How long a painting takes to complete depends on both the canvas size and your current Art level. A December 2025 update (v0.5.0) significantly reduced painting times across the board, making Art far more lucrative per hour of in-game time. The following approximate times use the default 96-minute in-game day:

Level Range | Medium/Large Canvas | Small Canvas |
|---|---|---|
Levels 0-3 | ~70 minutes | ~40 minutes |
Levels 4-7 | ~46 minutes | ~30 minutes |
Levels 8-10 | ~26 minutes | ~16 minutes |
The dramatic reduction in time at higher levels means a Level 10 artist can complete a painting in under an hour of in-game time, enabling multiple high-value paintings in a single day. Some players set up 8-10 easels simultaneously to maintain continuous painting output at high levels. The December patch also improved leveling speed significantly: most level-ups now take only 2-5 paintings instead of the pre-patch 9-10 paintings.
Quality Tiers and Pricing
Every finished painting receives a quality rating that directly determines its value. Four quality tiers exist, and higher skill levels increase the probability of producing better-quality works. The following values are based on community testing:
Medium Quality
Canvas Size | Base Price (Meow) | Pocket Market Price |
|---|---|---|
Small | 48 | ~57-62 |
Medium | 49 | ~59-63 |
Large | 52 | ~63-67 |
Good Quality
Canvas Size | Base Price (Meow) | Pocket Market Price |
|---|---|---|
Small | 160 | ~229 |
Medium | 165 | ~226-244 |
Large | 175 | ~229-258 |
Excellent Quality
Canvas Size | Base Price (Meow) | Pocket Market Price |
|---|---|---|
Small | 800 | ~1,298-1,329 |
Medium | 825 | ~1,300-1,366 |
Large | 875 | ~1,319-1,481 |
Perfect Quality
Perfect quality first appears at Level 9 and becomes more common at Level 10:
Canvas Size | Base Price (Meow) | Pocket Market Price |
|---|---|---|
Small | 3,200 | ~6,381 |
Medium | 3,300 | ~6,136 |
Large | 3,500 | ~6,794 |
Canvas size has a relatively small impact on price. Large paintings are only about 9-10% more valuable than Small paintings of the same quality tier. Quality matters far more than dimensions for earning Meow. A single Perfect-quality Large piece can sell for nearly 6,800 Meow. Pocket Market sell prices have some variance and do not clearly scale with your Art level, meaning you may see fluctuation between sales of the same quality and size.
Selling Paintings
To sell a finished painting, click on it and select "Sell on Pocket Market" via your Zoi's smartphone. The Pocket Market app shows an automatic price and processes the sale. The Meow is deposited into your household funds. If a painting does not sell at the listed price, you can adjust the price in the Pocket Market app.
Community reports indicate that at Level 10, dedicated painters can earn upward of 80,000 Meow in a single in-game week or even approach 100,000 Meow with optimized setups, making Art one of the most lucrative skills for income generation. Some players consider painting income overpowered compared to regular careers.
Business property warning: Paintings placed on business property sell at a reduced price on the Pocket Market, roughly half their normal value according to player reports. Always sell from a residential lot for maximum profit. For the best results at Level 10, use the "Paint with Soul" option (if available) on your easel, and if the initial quality preview is below Excellent, consider scrapping the painting and starting over to maximize the value of your time.
Displaying Paintings
Rather than selling every painting, many players choose to display their best works at home. Finished paintings can be hung on any wall using Build Mode. Displayed art improves room decor and can trigger the "Appreciate Art" interaction when other Zois visit, giving them a positive mood boost and a small Art skill gain. You can also display paintings in businesses your Zoi owns, though paintings placed on business property sell at a discount if listed on the Pocket Market.
Art Galleries
Two major art galleries serve as hubs for art appreciation:

Gallery | Location | Details |
|---|---|---|
Narim Art Gallery | Center of Dowon | Filled with artwork and sculptures. Zois can appreciate art for a skill boost and positive mood buff. Connected to Cafe Gaon, which offers cultural activities and tea. Mural Spaces are nearby, including the red brick wall near Sanded Villa. |
Lumiere Art Gallery | Serves a similar purpose as the Narim Art Gallery for Bliss Bay residents. |
Mood and Art Quality
A Zoi's mood directly affects skill learning speed and painting quality. Positive moods such as Concentrated, Focused, Amused, and Curious accelerate learning and increase the chances of producing higher-quality works. Negative moods like Bored, Uncomfortable, or Sad hinder progress. Keep your Zoi comfortable and happy before painting sessions for the best results.
The Great Painter Ambition
The Great Painter ambition falls under the Creative Expression category. It requires painting activities and art appreciation milestones. Completing all three pages rewards Canvas coins for the Meow Store. Note that standard art books contribute to general skill gain but may not count toward specific ambition milestones. Focus on easel painting and art appreciation interactions to ensure progress toward the Great Painter goals.
Leveling Speed
Art is one of the faster skills to level in inZOI. Reaching Level 10 takes approximately 25 in-game hours of painting. After the December 2025 patch, most level-ups require only 2-5 paintings instead of the pre-patch 9-10 paintings, making progression feel much smoother. Reading art books is slower at roughly 4 hours per level. Named art books take 15 minutes per reading session (16 titles available), while standard art books take 30 minutes each (8 titles, but grant +1 Inspired mood as a bonus).
Tips
Buy an easel as early as possible. Even low-level paintings sell for enough Meow to recoup the easel's cost within a few pieces.
Keep your Zoi in a positive mood before painting sessions. Mood states like Focused and Concentrated improve skill gain speed and the probability of higher-quality output.
At Level 10, focus on Abstract Art or Surrealism for the highest sale prices. A single Perfect-quality Large piece can sell for nearly 6,800 Meow.
Set up multiple easels to maintain continuous painting production. Some players run 8-10 easels to maximize weekly income at high levels.
Visit the Narim Art Gallery in Dowon for a passive skill boost if you are between painting sessions or waiting for your Zoi's energy to recover.
Mural and street art spaces are great for socializing while skilling. Other Zois often stop to watch and may initiate conversation, but these works cannot be sold.
Sell paintings from a residential lot rather than a business lot to avoid the significant price reduction on business property.
Canvas size has minimal impact on sale price (only 9-10% difference between Small and Large at the same quality). Focus on speed rather than always painting Large canvases.
At Level 10, consider scrapping any painting that starts below Excellent quality. Your time is better spent re-rolling for Excellent or Perfect outcomes than selling Medium or Good pieces.
Consider pairing Art with the Programming skill for a dual creative income strategy. Paint when energy is high, code when your Zoi prefers sitting down.
