Trial of Fire is the Chapter 3 side quest for joining the Fire Mages. The Hero must already belong to the Old Camp and have completed Orc Cemetery. Prepare 20 Learning Points and 200 ore nuggets for the two prerequisite lessons.
Request the trial
When Thorus offers a Warder promotion, express interest in becoming a mage. Speak to Milten at the Fire Mages' building, request admission from Corristo, then return to Milten and confirm the decision. He gives Rituals of the Order of Fire. Read it before demanding the trial from Corristo.
Learn the sacred disciplines

Save before returning to Corristo. His answers, in order, are "I want to bring about justice and help people" and "It's willpower." Wrong answers can close the admission route. Correct answers grant two Pray to Innos scrolls and add the shrine task to the journal.
Rekindle both altars

Eastern cliff overlook | Travel toward the high ground north of the Swamp Camp, near the first Focus Stone area. Defeat the Fire Lizard and use the second scroll at the altar. |
Each scroll needs 5 Mana. Lighting an altar grants 200 XP. After both are lit, report to Corristo, follow him upstairs, and wait for the mages to take their places before speaking again for the ceremony.
Initiation rewards
The ceremony grants 1,000 XP, the Fire Robe, and the Fire Mages Chambers key. Corristo becomes a Magic Circle teacher, Damarok offers healing, and Drago provides a Rune of Healing. Complete this route before the Chapter 3 cutoff. Missables and Points of No Return covers the relevant save point.
