The Rogues are the courier and scouting caste of the New Camp. They work under Lares and handle the camp's logistics and information flow.
Serve as couriers for the Water Mages, moving items and messages between the mages and the wider camp.
Act as the camp's scouts and information gatherers, watching the roads between the camps.
Handle the kind of quieter, softer work that the Mercenaries are not designed for.
Most Heroes engaging with the New Camp will work through Rogue-style quests before they are given the kind of direct combat tasks the Mercenaries sign off on. That is partly because Rogue missions are a better fit for a new arrival's skill level, and partly because the Rogues are the natural entry point to meeting Saturas later in the campaign.

The Rogues sit under Lares, who runs the New Camp's information network and handles introductions to Saturas and the Water Mages. They sit alongside the Mercenaries rather than beneath them: where Mercenaries handle direct combat work for the camp under Lee, Rogues handle the rest.

Function | Description |
|---|---|
Couriering | Carry items and messages between the Water Mages and the wider New Camp, including ore deliveries inbound to the mages. |
Scouting | Watch the roads and approaches around the New Camp, reporting on traffic between the camps and any Outlaws pressure outside the Barrier. |
Information | Run the camp's gossip network. Lares uses the Rogues to keep tabs on what is happening in the Old Camp and the Swamp Camp without leaving his post. |
Quieter Work | Pickpocketing, stealth, and the kind of softer task profile that does not fit the Mercenaries' overt enforcer role. |
Most New Camp Heroes work through Rogue-style quests before they are given the kind of direct combat tasks the Mercenaries sign off on. The Rogues are a better fit for a new arrival's skill level, and they are the natural entry point to the New Camp's leadership: their work loops through Lares, who then introduces the Hero to Saturas. From the Water Circle, the Hero gains access to the highest magical training the New Camp can offer.

The Nyras Prologue treats Ratford as the demo's Rogue figure, working out of the Exchange Zone rather than the New Camp proper. Ratford's quest line in the demo (the missing-partner Jorik thread) is built around the kind of investigation work that defines the Rogues' role: tracking a missing person, sending the player to scout an abandoned area, and closing the loop with information rather than a direct kill order. See Nyras Prologue Demo for the demo context.
