Several New Camp jobs build reputation while the Hero works toward admission. The Rice Lord's two assignments form a sequence, while Homer's Lurker problem can be handled separately.
A Few Drops Too Much
Ask the Rice Lord for work, then speak to Silas in the tavern. Rayk is disturbing the customers near the fireplace. A fight resolves it, but a drink offers a peaceful alternative.
Carry a drink, ask Rayk what is wrong, and offer to buy him a beer. Follow him to the upper balcony and give him a drink. Finish with either the sympathetic response or the observation that he should not have trusted the person in his story. Having no drink when offering one leads to a fight.
Tell Silas that Rayk will no longer bother him, then report to the Rice Lord for 200 XP and 25 ore nuggets. Ask for the next job to begin Up to His Neck.
Up to His Neck
The Rice Lord asks the Hero to find Bran. Malon in the ricefields provides a lead if approached politely. His route leads to Jacko and Renyu's cave, where defeating Jacko reveals the connection to Silas's chest. This investigation can be skipped by going directly to the tavern basement.
Dive into the flooded basement and find Bran's body by the stairs. Read the Tavern Warehouse Corpse Note. Before leaving, open Silas's chest and take Bran's Axe as evidence. Return through the tavern entrance, confront Silas, and report to the Rice Lord.
The reward is 300 XP. Bringing the axe and identifying Silas as the killer adds 50 ore nuggets. Finding the body without the axe still allows the XP reward.
The Dam Lurker
Offer to help Homer on the bridge above the dam. Take the path left of the sentries along the north side of the lake and follow its curve left. Stay beside the left rocks near the Lurker to avoid drawing the wolves on the upper right route.
Defeat the Lurker and return to Homer for 300 XP and his approval. A ranged opening can reduce its health before it reaches melee range.
These jobs support Admission to the New Camp; preserve the Old Mine list route for Lares's final assignment.
