Revision 1

Joining the Warders is Thorus's Chapter 3 promotion quest for an Old Camp Hero. It becomes available at the start of the chapter, provided the Hero has not joined the Fire Mages.

Recruit the diggers

Tell Thorus that the Hero wants to become a Warder. He assigns a supply escort at the Exchange Zone and asks for three diggers. Speak to diggers around the Old Camp until three with recruitment dialogue are found; the eligible residents vary.

One recruit accepts either 20 ore nuggets or a Green Novice. Another can be persuaded with the promise that everyone will hear how he helped. The remaining recruitment conversation accepts a threat. A wrong response removes that option while leaving the other available responses to try.

Defend the delivery

Take the three recruits northeast to the Exchange Zone, beside the waterfall at the game's starting area. Speak to Kirgo there and defeat the Bandits who ambush the delivery. Kirgo and the recruited diggers can be knocked unconscious during this fight and recover afterward. Speak to Kirgo again when the attackers have been defeated.

Collect the equipment

Return to Thorus for 700 XP, then speak to Stone at the castle forge. He provides the Warder's Sword and Warder's Armor without a purchase cost.

Choosing this path should be considered alongside Trial of Fire, the Old Camp's mage admission route. Both involve Chapter 3 decisions, and joining the Fire Mages closes the Warder quest. Main Quests shows the surrounding chapter progression.
