Kratos and Atreus are the family at the heart of Faye's quest in God of War Laufey. They are the ones she awakens to protect: the plans she put in place to keep them safe are at risk, and saving them drives her journey through the Everywhen.

The reveal frames them as Faye's motivation rather than the focus of this game, and their active role in Laufey has not been detailed. Chris Judge, who has voiced Kratos across the Norse-era games, is confirmed to reprise the role as part of the cast announced for the game's July 2026 Comic-Con panel. In the earlier Norse-era games Kratos is the series' longtime protagonist and Atreus is his son; how much they appear here remains to be confirmed.

Sony has said Laufey can be enjoyed completely standalone, so no prior knowledge of the pair is assumed, though the publisher recommends the earlier Norse-era games for readers who want the fuller picture of the world and its characters.
