Faye, whose true name is Laufey, is the playable protagonist of God of War Laufey. She is voiced by Deborah Ann Woll.
Background
The game's official material describes her as the guardian of the Jotnar, a rebel leader against the oppressive Aesir gods and the lone protector of the Wildwoods, a warrior whose battle prowess was legendary even among the Giants. She is also described as the protector of Jotunheim. The game is presented as an expansion of the God of War universe that sheds light on a character whose story had long remained untold.

The reveal establishes Faye as the Golden Hand of the Jotnar, the most powerful protector of the Giants, and a legendary warrior and leader whose impact was felt across the Nine Realms long before she ever met Kratos. As the Golden Hand of the Jotnar she has proven equal to even the likes of Thor, one of the strongest gods in the Nine Realms. In the Norse-era games, the Leviathan Axe was originally hers before it passed to Kratos. In the earlier Norse-era games she was known only after her death, as the guiding force behind the journey of Kratos and Atreus; Laufey makes her a playable lead for the first time.
Role in Laufey
After her funeral Faye awakens in the Everywhen. The realm is steeped in the oldest magic, and her soul-related abilities are greatly amplified there, but she must still uncover the truth behind her situation while searching for a way home. Her goal is to protect the family she left behind. The game is framed around her humanity, her strengths, and her flaws.

Abilities
She is billed as a warrior who went toe-to-toe with Thor and a match for the Ghost of Sparta, Kratos, moving through battle with what the studio calls breathtaking grace and lethality.
Faye fights with a fast, acrobatic combat style, her signature Golden Hand soul power, and a legendary sword whose guardian Rue she must win over.
