Magic Echo Shards are collected on Dietrich's route by defeating enemies revealed by Answerer's Cry. These encounters disappear from the world map after two turns.

Check enemies carrying the item-bag icon to see which ones hold shards. At the Temple of Smyrnos, shards can improve eligible Combat Arts by changing accuracy, critical chance or durability cost. They can also teach companions the Secret Combat Arts Dietrich learned from Dread Warriors; this does not transfer every Combat Art he knows.
