Gambits

Initial version (2026-09-16)
Gambits return in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave as attacks made by a battalion rather than by the unit commanding it. Every sighting so far attaches them to Theodora and the battalions she recruits, and the command sits on its own button during her move. Three names are published, and only one of them carries an effect line.
Gambit | Japanese | What Is Published |
|---|---|---|
Disturbing Volley | 攪乱射擊 | Effective+ against flying units. If the attack hits, it inflicts Immobilize on the target. Shown in use by Theodora. |
Disturbing Strike | Not published | Selected from a command bound to the A button and limited by uses. One battle capture shows the counter stepping from 2 down to 1, a three tile target box covering three enemy soldiers at once, and a forecast of 94 hit, 0 critical and 7 damage. |
Blaze | Not published | A published gambit entry with no effect, range or cost attached. The name is shared with the Blaze Arts system, which is a separate thing: Blaze Arts are paid for in the user’s HP and belong to individual characters rather than to battalions. |
Disturbing Volley is the only one of the three with a stated effect. Its Effective+ line means a connecting attack deals three times the Might behind the gambit against a flying target, which is the higher of the two effectiveness tiers set out on Bonus Damage. Immobilize is not otherwise documented, so what it stops a unit from doing is recorded here only as the name on the line.
As of September 2026 no Gambit carries a published Might, range, uses figure or area value on any surface this wiki checks, beyond the single Disturbing Strike battle capture described above. No list of gambits has been published, and no battalion has been shown with a gambit attached to it by name. Nothing is carried over here from any other game in the series.
Gambits and battalions travel together. Three battalions are named so far: Novice Hunters, Twin Jewel Fans and Holy Apprentices. Each carries a Skill Req letter grade and a Gather Cap figure on the overland Search screen, where a battalion can be sent to gather materials instead of marching with the party. No endurance value, stat bonus or authority requirement has been shown for any of them. The battalion table is on Combat System.
Theodora is also the Hero whose downtime is built around them: her path activity is recruiting and deploying battalions, which is why the gambit command has only ever been seen on her side of the field.
Combat Arts and Blaze Arts are the other two costed attack systems, paid for in weapon durability and in the user’s health. Bonus Damage explains the Effective+ tier Disturbing Volley uses, and Between-Match Preparation covers the downtime in which battalions are recruited.
