This page collects the most common questions about Fatekeeper as of its Early Access launch. Answers are based on official statements from Paraglacial and THQ Nordic and on the live Early Access build, and remain subject to change as Early Access updates land. When something is genuinely unknown, the answer says so explicitly rather than guessing.
When Does Fatekeeper Come Out?

Fatekeeper launched into Early Access on Steam on June 2, 2026. PC is the launch platform; no console date has been announced.
What Platforms is it On?
PC only at Early Access launch, distributed through Steam. The game requires a 64-bit Windows operating system. Console releases (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series) have been mentioned in some pre-launch coverage but are not officially confirmed by Paraglacial or THQ Nordic.
Does it Have Multiplayer or Co-Op?

No. The Steam page lists Single-player only. There is no announced cooperative, competitive, or live-service mode.
Is it Free-To-Play?
No. Fatekeeper is a paid up-front game. There are no microtransactions or season passes announced.
Will the Price Change During Early Access?
Yes. The publisher has stated that the Early Access version launches at a significantly discounted price and that the price will increase as content updates land during the Early Access window. Buying early therefore secures the lowest planned price for the run of Early Access, with the full-version price taking effect once the Early Access cycle ends. The Early Access launch price is $9.99, and a 20% launch discount briefly lowered it to $7.99 during the opening weeks; that launch discount has since ended, so the current price is the full $9.99. The price is expected to rise as content updates land during the Early Access window.
What Engine Does it Use?
The engine has not been officially confirmed by the studio. The team is small, a thirteen-person studio based in Germany, and the visuals shown in pre-release material reflect a modern third-party engine commonly used for first-person action titles.
Who is the Protagonist?
The player character is the Druid, a member of the Sentinels of Solace. The Druid is fully customizable, with no fixed class restriction. Specific details about the Druid's name, gender, and origin are not yet revealed in pre-launch material.
What is the Talking Rat?
The Druid travels with a sarcastic talking rat who lives in the Druid's backpack and rides on the shoulder. The rat speaks in a dry, weary voice and offers smart and snarky advice. Paraglacial has stated that the rat's identity will remain a secret until later in marketing or the playable build.
Is it Similar to Older First-Person Melee-and-Magic RPGs?
Pre-release coverage has compared Fatekeeper to the broader first-person melee-and-magic action RPG sub-genre, citing weighty swings, environmental kills, and freeform spellcasting. Paraglacial has not formally branded Fatekeeper as a successor to any specific older game. Mechanics, story, world, and characters in Fatekeeper are original to this title.
What Languages Will it Support?
English only at Early Access launch. The Steam store page currently lists English for interface, full audio, and subtitles. Additional languages during the Early Access window are possible but have not been officially confirmed.
How Violent is It?
The Steam content descriptors list realistic depictions of violence and blood, including chance-based body dismemberment in combat. All violent content is directed at fantasy creatures. Age ratings include DEJUS 16, IGRS 18, and Steam Germany 18.
What is the World Setting?
The game is set in Solace, an archipelago in a vast ocean. The world weaves together alpine fortress ruins, deep forests, glacial valleys, mountain peaks, and forgotten underground cities once inhabited by the Underdwellers. Player home base is Haven.
Will There Be DLC?
Paraglacial has not announced specific post-launch content. Early Access is expected to receive ongoing patches and content additions during its run. The studio's focus during Early Access is the core experience rather than expansions.
How Was the Early Access Launch Received?
Fatekeeper launched to a positive early response. Launch-window Steam user reviews have been mostly positive: players respond well to the weighty melee, the spellcasting, and the handcrafted world, while a notable share point to the modest Early Access content length that the developer had flagged in advance. As an Early Access title, reception is expected to evolve as content updates land.
Is There a Roadmap?
Not a dated one yet. The developer has said a public roadmap is intended but is being held back for now so the early Early Access period stays flexible and responsive. The stated near-term priority is refining and improving the content already in the game before adding large amounts of new content. As of mid-June 2026 the team also said it is considering a few replayability-focused features in the near future while it works on the next major content update, which it wants to be substantial rather than a rushed set of small additions, and that the following patch would focus on skill-tree changes and item updates and additions. See Patch Notes.
Does it Support Controllers?
Controller support is named as a planned short-term addition but is not yet in the build at launch. Keyboard and mouse input is fully rebindable. See Controls for the input overview.
Will More Languages Be Added?
Possibly. English is the only listed language at present, but the developer has named additional-language localization as one of its planned short-term improvements during Early Access. No specific languages or timeline have been confirmed. See Languages and Localization.
