The Trunk of the Hivetree is a dungeon instance set inside the Hivetree, the towering landmark of the Honeywood sub-region on Skover Island. Rather than spreading out across rooms, this dungeon climbs upward: you enter at the base, get into the trunk, and ascend from there toward the top.

The Hivetree is occupied by many creatures, chiefly the workers of the Apix Clan along with honey slime. See Enemies and Factions for more on the Apix. Cannons feature in the climb and can be used to help you make your way up the structure.

At the top waits Gatsbee, the supervisor who controls this stronghold, and clearing the dungeon means getting rid of him. As an instance, it rewards strong gear or recipes, with the toughest tiers giving the best loot. For the wider system, see Dungeons and Instances.

Why the Hivetree Exists

The Hivetree is not a natural growth. When Luon infused the soil of Skover and mutated the bees into the Apix Clan, the same force drove their tree to its present size. The stronghold that grew out of it is what you climb, and Gatsbee is the supervisor put in charge of it.

The Apix hold every level of the trunk, in the same role split the clan uses out in the world, with their own slimes underfoot.
