Getting Started
Meet the Dokebi
The Dokebi are the game's core creatures. They are spirit-like entities drawn directly from Korean folklore, and in DokeV's fiction they gain strength from people's dreams. Players find them, befriend them, and bring them into combat.
Fight Together
Combat in DokeV is cooperative in a specific sense: the Dokebi fight at the player's side, similar in concept to Pokemon battles but as real-time action. Players also use a variety of cartoonish weapons, and they can dodge incoming attacks rather than trading damage passively. See Combat System.
Explore a Modern Korea
The game's world closely resembles modern-day South Korea. Players can move around in an enormous variety of ways, from tiny cars to llama mounts. Pearl Abyss has leaned into mobility variety as a gameplay hook rather than a cosmetic one.
Expect K-Pop
DokeV's identity is inseparable from its soundtrack. The ROCKSTAR song by GALACTIKA, premiered at The Game Awards 2021, is the clearest showcase of the K-pop-infused feel that runs through the game.
