Pearl Abyss is the South Korean game studio developing DokeV. Founded in 2010 by ex-Hangame and NHN engineers, the company also makes Black Desert Online, Crimson Desert, and Plan 8. It owned CCP Games, the studio behind EVE Online, from 2018 until selling it back to CCP's leadership in 2026.

Dokebi are the creatures at the heart of DokeV. Drawn from Korean dokkaebi folklore and reimagined as whimsical companions, they live alongside humans, draw strength from human dreams, and are carried in small prismatic discs to be summoned in combat.
