The Stargaze is an active skill granted by the Constellation Helm. It lets the wearer search the night sky for hidden constellations and lock in alignments at the fixed observation points scattered across Pywel. Registering all 13 constellations is what unlocks the final reward chain that ends with the Sword of Starlight.
Quick Information
Property | Value |
|---|---|
Type | Active skill (helm-granted) |
Source | Equipping the Constellation Helm |
Activation | Bound to the helm's special-ability input. Selected from the function wheel that handles food and elemental skills. |
Best conditions | Night, clear sky, open terrain with minimal ambient light. |
How to Use It
Equip the Constellation Helm before stepping into the observation area.
Wait for nightfall. Daylight and overcast weather suppress the constellation outlines, and the helm flavor text confirms that darker skies make the alignments easier to lock in.
Activate the helm's special ability from the function wheel. The wheel slot for the helm sits at the same selector that handles food and elemental skills, in the bottom-right position by default.
Move the camera to align the visible stars with the landmark below. Each constellation has a fixed assembled shape; the alignment locks when the in-sky stars and the in-world landmark line up.
Confirm the lock with the dedicated input. A short lightning-style animation plays when the alignment registers, and the constellation is recorded in the Constellation Research Journal.
Where It Is Used
Constellations are placed at fixed observation points across Pywel. Ten of the 13 sit on standard exploration routes; three are gated behind specific faction questlines and only become visible after those quests advance. See Constellation Research for per-constellation alignment notes and the corresponding journal page for the running registration tally.
Tips for Reliable Locks
Stand directly on the marked observation patch. Adjacent terrain tends to throw the alignment off because the landmark and star pattern only line up from the intended angle.
Open vistas read better than canyon floors. Clear horizons let the constellation outline render at full strength.
Recheck weather before retrying. Cloud cover and rain weaken the outlines; fast-traveling to a nearby fast travel point until weather clears can save a frustrating run.
Three constellations are quest-gated. If one stubbornly refuses to render at a known location, the underlying faction quest may not be far enough along yet.
