Priden is one of the five standard horse breeds in Crimson Desert. It features above-average health and stamina alongside excellent handling and jump power. According to its in-game Knowledge entry, Priden horses are famously gentle and do not run even when approached, making them one of the easiest breeds to tame.
Thanks to its unique High Jump skill (unlocked at Trust Level 5), Priden excels in mountainous terrain like Pailune, where vertical movement is frequently required. When combined with Double Jump, Priden can clear gaps and vertical obstacles that would otherwise require dismounting and climbing on foot. This makes it the premier standard horse for exploration in areas with significant elevation changes.
Priden has the following base stats at Trust Level 1. Its Evade stat of 60 and base Handling/Jump of 2 are the highest among standard breeds. Movement Speed starts at 1, making Priden slower on flat terrain than Brianto but far more capable in hilly or mountainous regions.
Stat | Value |
|---|---|
Health | 400 |
Stamina | 195 |
Attack | 10 |
Evade | 60 |
Movement Speed | 1 |

Priden's signature abilities are High Jump and Double Jump, both unlocked at Trust Level 5. Together they give a degree of vertical mobility that no other standard horse can replicate.
Level | Skill | Description |
|---|---|---|
Lv. 1 | Dash | Burst of forward speed for quick travel. |
Lv. 2 | Drift | Sharp directional turns while sprinting without losing momentum. |
Lv. 3 | Back Kick | The horse kicks backward, hitting enemies directly behind. |
Lv. 3 | Sprint | Extended high-speed gallop that consumes stamina. |
Lv. 4 | Swimming III | Improved swimming speed and stamina efficiency in water. |
Lv. 5 | Quick Start | Faster acceleration from a standstill. |
Lv. 5 | High Jump | Jump to significantly greater heights and distances than a normal jump. Reaches elevated platforms and cliffside paths that other breeds cannot access. Unique to Priden among standard breeds. |
Lv. 5 | Double Jump | Perform a second jump in mid-air. When combined with High Jump, clears gaps and vertical obstacles that would otherwise require dismounting. |
There are three main ways to get a Priden horse:
Wild Priden horses roam throughout Pywel, commonly found near rivers and open plains. Because of their gentle temperament, they are one of the easiest breeds to approach. Look for them in grassy lowlands and river valleys. Approach from behind, mount the horse, and complete the taming minigame by keeping the camera behind the horse and holding back on the stick.
Stable vendors in major towns sometimes sell Priden horses for silver. Check stables in Hernand, Demeniss, and other major settlements.
Priden horses can be stolen from bandits on the road or NPCs in towns. Equip a mask before stealing and be aware that theft increases your bounty.

Priden is the ideal horse for players who spend a lot of time exploring mountainous regions. The following areas benefit heavily from Priden's jumping capabilities:
Silver Wolf Mountain: Steep cliffs and elevated resource nodes are much easier to reach with High Jump.
Steel Mountains: The terrain around the Spire of Insight has many vertical shortcuts.
Pailune Cliffs: The rocky terrain of Pailune is designed with vertical exploration in mind.
Abyss Cresset locations: Many fast travel points sit on elevated platforms that High Jump can reach directly.
For flat terrain speed, Brianto or the legendary Royler are better choices. Priden is a specialist, not a general-purpose speed mount.
Horses gain Trust levels through three methods, listed from fastest to slowest:
Feeding: The fastest method. Give your horse food items like hay, sugar beets, oats, or apples while riding. Each feeding session grants substantial Trust experience.
Caressing: Target your horse and press R to pet it. This grants free experience at no resource cost but has a daily cap on how many times it can be used.
Riding: Passive experience earned from simply traveling on horseback. This is the slowest method but happens naturally during gameplay.
You can also invest Abyss Artifacts into the mount-related nodes on the Abyss Tree to improve base stats beyond what leveling and equipment provide.
Priden can be equipped with horse items at stables. Equipment slots include:
Slot | Effect |
|---|---|
Head armor that increases the horse's Defense stat. | |
Body armor that provides additional protection and may boost Health. | |
Affects rider stability and influences stamina consumption. Especially useful for Priden's extended jumping sessions. | |
Improves mounted combat control and may boost the horse's Attack stat. | |
Speed bonuses that help compensate for Priden's lower base movement speed. |
Prioritize horseshoes and stirrups for Priden. Horseshoes offset the breed's lower movement speed on flat terrain, while stirrups further enhance its already strong handling stat.
Priden is one of the four tamable horse breeds required for the Harmonious Hooves challenge (#7). You must ride each of the four tamable breeds (Brianto, Priden, Elantrima, and Numont) for over 100 meters each to complete this challenge.
Priden's High Jump skill is especially useful for reaching Abyss Cresset locations on elevated platforms without dismounting.
If you plan to explore Pailune extensively, taming a Priden early saves a lot of climbing time.
Equip horseshoes to offset Priden's lower base speed. A well-equipped Priden can keep up with other breeds on flat ground.
Wild Priden horses are most commonly found near rivers and in open plains areas. Look for them in grassy lowlands.
Back Kick (unlocked at Trust Level 3) is useful for mounted combat when enemies approach from behind.
Priden's higher base Evade (60) and Health (400) make it more durable than Brianto (30 Evade, 300 HP) during mounted combat encounters.
Feed your horse to level it up faster. Feeding is significantly quicker than passive riding experience. Caress daily for free bonus experience.
Invest in the Abyss Tree mount nodes for additional stat improvements that stack with equipment.
