On launch day the update went live on Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and the Epic Games Store, with the Mac App Store build arriving on a later schedule than the other platforms.
The headline addition is a full controller remapping feature, the quality-of-life item that Pearl Abyss had flagged in the Developer Roadmap April-June 2026 as Customizable Controller Inputs. Players can now reassign controller buttons freely, the same way keyboard and mouse bindings could already be customized.
The remapping menu is reached through Menu, then Others, then Input. The input configuration screen is opened with F on PC, X on an Xbox controller, or Square on a PlayStation controller. Two existing schemes, the Default layout and the Classic Preset, remain available as starting points to build a custom layout from. This sits on top of the Controller Presets system that arrived in Patch 1.04.00.
Roughly thirty species of small animals can now be registered as Pets. These are animals that already existed in the world but could not previously be kept as companions; the patch opens them up for registration rather than introducing brand-new creatures. The full species list is not enumerated in the official notes.
The patch also adds animations for picking up and putting down certain pets, so handling a companion looks more natural during the carry and release actions. For the underlying trust and registration flow, see the Pet Taming Guide.
Both Oongka and Damiane receive a new finisher-style skill. Each one uses the same input command as Kliff's Blinding Flash Finisher, the unarmed finisher added in Patch 1.07.00, and behaves in a comparable way for its character. The official notes confirm the new skills and their shared input but do not publish individual skill names.
Seed planting is streamlined so that seeds can be assigned to and used directly from quickslots. A seed placed in the Food Quickslot can be planted by standing over a prepared ground hole and pressing the quickslot button, removing the previous need to reopen the Inventory before every plant. This makes batch planting across a farm plot far less repetitive.

Two raytracing issues are corrected. On PC, the shadows of some distant objects were not being rendered correctly when the Raytraced Sun and Moon Light Shadows option was enabled; that is fixed. On Mac, the same Raytraced Sun and Moon Light Shadows option was not being applied at all, and now takes effect. For the full options list, see Performance and Graphics Settings.
Patch 1.09.00 ships a broad fix pass across combat, tools, UI, audio, animation, and localization. Notable fixes include the following.
Kliff's Evasive Kick now correctly consumes Spirit when used unarmed.
Blinding Flash Finisher can no longer be used with insufficient Spirit.
Damiane: repeatedly hitting sanctum cores with element-imbued attacks no longer stacks their effects in a way that dropped performance.
Damiane: fixed unnatural animations when evading while falling from a high place.
Magic Scythe can now be used when the Inventory is full.
The Scythe can now be used inside safe zones.
Mining Knuckledrill can now be used while clinging to a wall.
Fixed equipment appearing transparent when switching to another tool while a tool was drawn, and the player swapping to another weapon when attacking with certain tools equipped.
Legendary fish can no longer be donated.
Some challenges that failed to complete after the related knowledge was obtained now complete correctly.
Bears no longer try and fail to eat fish dropped on the ground.
The "Clean" interaction prompt no longer appears for fish that cannot be cleaned.
Pond Management mode could not be entered in certain situations, and controls could lock up if the character died after entering it while taking damage; both are fixed.
Fixed difficulty checking colors while dyeing and customizing characters under certain surrounding light sources. See the Dye System.
Entering Photo Mode while examining items is fixed.
The Dispatch UI now sorts comrades who have a mission's required skills to the top, and the camp resources UI no longer shows the comrade count as 0.
On keyboard and mouse, the cursor now disappears when examining documents.
The QTE input icon now appears even when certain input options are customized.
Fixed a UI freeze when re-entering the game after being returned to the title screen by an error.
Fixed unnatural player landing animations, and an unnatural corpse put-down animation when interacting while swimming with a corpse.
Fixed audio playing when examining books and bounty notices with the Voice Language set to English, and missing sound effects when cooking with a special cooking tool.
Fixed an occasional crash when moving to the Tree Branch crafting recipe tab.
Various localization errors were corrected and localization quality was improved across all supported languages.
Controller remapping had been one of the most-requested features since launch, because the launch build allowed keyboard and mouse rebinding but locked controller layouts to fixed schemes. Patch 1.09.00 closed that gap, leaving custom control layouts available on every input device. For the broader control scheme, see Controls.
